In the early hours of Dawn Chorus Day 2026, our team of nature walkers set out for the serene trails of Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary, eager to welcome the day with birdsong. What unfolded was a delightful surprise—amidst fluttering moths and vividly patterned butterflies, the forest came alive with a rich diversity of avifauna.
We were thrilled to spot half a dozen lively White-throated Fantail dancing through the undergrowth, the Indian White-eyes foraging in the canopy, and the melodic calls of the Plaintive Cuckoo echoing through the trees.
Adding to the excitement were sightings of White-rumped Munias, the striking Streak-throated Woodpecker, and, much to our delight, the elusive Scarlet-backed Flowerpeckers who kept flitting from branch to branch!
See you on the next walk.
