From sweeping floors to shaping destinies, Pratiksha Tondwalkar’s life reads like a story written by courage itself.
She was born in Pune to parents who struggled to make ends meet. Before she could even understand her own dreams, life rushed her into responsibilities. At just 16, she was married. Schoolbooks were replaced with household duties. Education — the door she had barely touched — was shut too soon.
By the age of 20, fate struck again. She was widowed, holding a small child in her arms and a future filled with uncertainty. Society looked at her with pity. Circumstances tried to label her as helpless.
But Pratiksha refused to accept that label.
To feed her son and survive with dignity, she took a job as a sweeper at a Mumbai branch of State Bank of India. Every morning, she cleaned floors others walked on. She dusted desks where decisions were made. Her salary was small, but her spirit was unbreakable.
While the world slept, she studied.
After long days of physical labour, she opened books at night — tired eyes, aching body, but a mind burning with hope. Page by page, she reclaimed what life had once taken away. That determination led her to earn a degree in psychology — not as a privilege, but as a victory.
Slowly, quietly, change began.
Her dedication was noticed.
From sweeper to clerk.
From clerk to officer.
From officer to leadership.
Each promotion carried the weight of years of struggle, tears, and resilience.
During this journey, life gave her a partner who believed in her when it mattered the most. Her second husband, Pramod Tondwalkar, stood beside her — encouraging her to prepare for banking exams, supporting her ambitions, and sharing the responsibility of raising their children. For the first time, her dreams were not carried alone.
Step by step, she rose — not by shortcuts, but by strength.
And one day, the same institution where she once cleaned floors entrusted her with leadership. Pratiksha Tondwalkar rose to become CGM and ultimately Assistant General Manager of SBI — a position of authority, respect, and responsibility.
Her journey proves something powerful:
No work is small.
No beginning is weak.
No destiny is fixed.
Sometimes, the hands that clean the floor today are the ones that lead tomorrow.
Pratiksha didn’t just change her life —
she redefined what courage looks like.
