Three days full of energy, laughter, cheering, and running! 🏃‍♀️💛

SAHAY’s Sports Day brought together 3,500 children from the NIRMAAN program. Some joined the races, while many came to cheer for their friends—making the whole event lively and full of excitement.

From drills to fun races and games, every moment was full of spirit. The cheering was just as powerful as the running!

Winners received medals, trophies, and prizes, but what everyone took back was a feeling of togetherness. Every child also received a food package—whether they were running or cheering. 🎉

We were happy to have Shri Bishnupada Sarkar, ADPO, SSM, Kolkata with us, encouraging the children and celebrating their efforts.

A big thank you to Children International for making this possible.

A Day of Celebrations at SAHAY! 🎉

We felicitated some of our best performing session facilitators of NIRMAAN – a project supported by our donors Children International. These facilitators have consistently shown up, created a safe and supportive environment for children, encouraged participation and led their sessions with a lot of love and warmth.

Their efforts have resulted in increased attendance of children in our community centers who look forward to attending SAHAY’s life skills and extracurricular sessions.

Our session facilitators play an integral role in the success of NIRMAAN - building trust in the community, developing essential life skills among children at different milestones of their lives and creating a community where children feel a strong sense of belonging and ownership.

We were delighted to host our donors from Children International, Liz Orellana, Asia/Africa Regional Director, Matthew Grimes, Director of Operations Strategy and Support, Kirtimayi Mishra, Director of India Operations and Arpita Chowdhury, Partnerships Manager, during their visit to SAHAY recently.

They spent time observing our ongoing sessions, interacting with children, session facilitators, caregivers and engaging in meaningful conversations with our team to better understand the impact of our programs on the ground.

The visit offered an opportunity to share our progress, discuss challenges, and explore ways to strengthen our work together. Their encouragement and thoughtful reflections reaffirmed the importance of creating safe, supportive spaces for children and youth.

We are grateful for their continued trust and partnership. Looking forward to building on this collaboration as we work towards empowering every child and young person in our communities.

This week, on the occasion of World Mental Health, our community centres have been abuzz with conversations around mental health; helping children and adolescents understand their emotions, build resilience and explore ways to care for their mental well-being.

By creating open, supportive spaces, we ensure that vulnerable children feel heard, valued and safe because good mental health is the foundation for a brighter future. ⭐

SAHAY had the privilege of hosting a Stakeholders’ Meeting on Child Rights & Protection, bringing together government dignitaries, board members, partners, community representatives, and volunteers to pledge for a safer future for every child.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speakers — Ms. Tandrima Gupta, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Detective Department; Mr. Supriyo Sarkar, Former Joint Director, DCRT; Ms. Mohua Sur Ray, Chairperson, CWC; Ms. Eti Naha, Officer-in-Charge, SJPU and Ms. Paromita Dutta, Project Coordinator, DCPU — for empowering us with their knowledge and insights.

As part of its child safeguarding efforts, SAHAY organised a Fire Fighting Training in collaboration with Ceasefire Industries.

Through this training, our team gained knowledge regarding the different classes and levels of fire, how to maintain and operate a fire extinguisher and protocols to be followed in case of fire.

When adults are equipped to handle crisis situations, it paves the way for a safer environment for all children.
