'Ashabari' provides a new life to the homeless, sick and dying street destitutes by providing them with shelter, medication and rehabilitation till they become healthy and independent to start a new life. Calcutta Home of Hope, better known as Ashabari, was established in 1999 to care for the dying destitute with compassion and love, which has today about 120 inmates. Ashabari soon expanded itse

lf through its various activities, such as, health care, Self Help Groups, education aid centres, skill based training centres, safe drinking water, sanitation, sustainable organic farming and pisciculture, animal husbandry, etc, reaching out to the poor and the needy in the rural villages of South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India. Its integral, participatory and multi-sector approach in development has brought about enhancement in the social, economic and cultural spheres of the people's life, especially of Women and Children.
