*PROJECT DESCRIPTION*: IWC Calcutta South Suburban donated a wheelchair to Partho Paul, a 19-year-old student who is suffering from haemophilia. Due to recurrent bleeding in his knee joints, he is unable to walk properly and faces great difficulty in mobility.

Understanding his condition and need for support, the club provided a wheelchair to help him move more easily and continue his daily activities and studies with greater comfort and dignity.

This small initiative reflects the club’s continued commitment to humanitarian service and support for individuals facing health challenges.

*PROJECT DESCRIPTION*: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the members of IWC Calcutta South Suburban had the privilege of felicitating Dr. Indrani Bhattacharyya, CEO of the Child in Need Institute (CINI), in recognition of her remarkable contributions over the past 20 years in the fields of adolescent health, nutrition, gender equity, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

As a token of our respect and appreciation, she was felicitated with an uttoriyo, an appreciation certificate, a flower bouquet, and sweets.

During the interaction, Dr. Bhattacharyya showed keen interest in learning about Inner Wheel and the various service activities carried out by our club. Our senior members beautifully explained the ideals of Inner Wheel and the social initiatives we undertake.

Her insightful and inspiring words about the meaningful work done by CINI made the session truly enriching for all of us. We sincerely thank Dr. Indrani Bhattacharyya for sharing her valuable time and motivating us with her dedication and vision.

A truly meaningful way to celebrate International Women’s Day.

*PROJECT DESCRIPTION*: On behalf of IWC Calcutta South Suburban, we conducted an impactful awareness session on Safe and Unsafe Touch at Behala Balika Vidyapith.

The session was led by qualified psychologist and counsellor Mrs. Sreya Ghosh Panigrahi, who engaged and enlightened the students with great care and professionalism. Through slides and interactive activities, she explained the concepts of safe touch and unsafe touch, as well as safe zones and unsafe zones, in a simple and child-friendly way.

Students were encouraged not to feel afraid and to speak to their mothers or trusted adults if any uncomfortable incident ever happens. With the help of small activities, the children were able to clearly understand what safe and unsafe touch mean.

After the session we distributed cakes among the students.

It was a meaningful and successful initiative, and we are glad to have created awareness on such an important topic among school children.

*PROJECT DESCRIPTION*: On behalf of IWC Calcutta South Suburban, we lovingly donated essential food items and daily-use necessities to Paripurnata Halfway Home, centre for Psychological Rehabilitation for Women.

The contribution included 15 kgs rice, 5 kgs masoor dal, 2 kgs gota moong, 3 kgs soybean chunks, 5.5 kgs chowmein, 3 kgs biscuits, 1 kg turmeric powder, 500 grm cumin powder along with 30 pcs Lifebuoy soap and 32 pcs Clinic Plus shampoo sachets.

This small effort was made with big hearts — to support daily needs, spread care, and stand beside those who are rebuilding their lives with strength and dignity.

On IIW Day, hearts were touched and smiles were shared as IWC Calcutta South Suburban reached out with love to the children of Alaberia village. Donating sweaters and dry groceries may seem small, but for those little hands and hopeful eyes, it meant warmth, care, and the feeling of being remembered.

Moments like these remind us that kindness is the most beautiful gift we can give. Together, we didn’t just donate essentials — we shared comfort, dignity, and hope.
