📚 Four Days of Learning, One Shared Purpose: Barefoot Teachers Training

Great teaching begins with understanding how children learn. 🌱

From 5th to 8th October 2026, a four-day Barefoot Teachers Training Programme was conducted to strengthen the skills and capacities of grassroots teachers. The training explored child development, learning levels, qualities of a good teacher and joyful, child-centred teaching methods. Participants also prepared low-cost Teaching-Learning Materials and explored action rhymes, songs and educational games to make learning more engaging.

The training aimed to help teachers create classrooms where every child feels included, encouraged and excited to learn. 💛

🩸 Breaking the Silence: Menstrual Health for Everyone

Sometimes, breaking a taboo begins with a simple question. 💛

On 8th October 2026, a Menstrual Health and Hygiene awareness session was conducted at Khanna High School with 150 students. Initially, there was hesitation about involving boys. But as the session progressed, several boys came forward with genuine curiosity and thoughtful questions, wanting to understand menstruation and learn how they could support their peers.

The session showed why menstrual health education must include everyone. When boys become informed, they can become allies in creating a more open and supportive environment. 🌸

🌱 Growing in Confidence: Capacity Building for Mothers at Gosaba

Confidence grows when women are given the space to learn, reflect and discover their strengths. 💛

On 6th and 7th October 2026, the Nari Shakti Project conducted a two-day capacity-building programme for mothers at Bipradaspur, Gosaba. Sessions explored time management, work planning, effective communication, voice modulation and interpersonal skills. Participants also reflected on valuing quality over perfection and building genuine self-confidence.

When women grow in confidence, families and communities grow stronger. ✨

🕯️ Lighting the Way Within: Candle-Making Therapy at Hingalganj

Sometimes, creating something with our hands can help bring calm to the mind and warmth to the heart. 🌸

On 7th & 8th October 2026, the Naya Disha Project conducted a therapeutic candle-making session at Hingalganj Resource Centre with 30 participants. From preparing wax and adding colours and fragrances to moulding and finishing, each step encouraged creativity, patience and concentration. The activity offered a safe space for emotional expression while nurturing confidence and a sense of achievement.

By the end, the room glowed with candles, laughter and shared joy. 💛

🎨 Creating with Devotion, Celebrating with Joy

As Durga Puja draws closer, creativity and festive spirit came together at the Lotus Child Project at Dulki village in Sundarban region 🌸

On 6th October 2026, the mothers’ group took part in a special handicraft training session, painting the face of Durga Maa on blouses using fabric painting techniques. The activity offered an opportunity to learn, create and express devotion through art.

The festive joy continued as sarees were distributed among the adolescent group, bringing a special touch of celebration to their lives. 💛

🛡️ Stronger Together: Building Safer Communities for Children

On 3rd October 2026, the Anti-Human Trafficking Project conducted a mass awareness programme at Arshikari FP School, Basirhat, with the 143 BSF Battalion and local teachers. 🤝

Seventy participants learned about child marriage, the POCSO Act, human trafficking, cybercrime, and good touch and bad touch. The session strengthened awareness of children's rights, personal safety and ways to seek help.

Bringing BSF, teachers and KMWSC together reinforced a powerful message: protecting children is a shared responsibility. 💛

🌟 Think. Feel. Decide: Life Skills Sessions Under AGEP

On 3rd and 4th October 2026, the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Programme conducted life skills sessions at two locations. 💛

At Gosaba, Sundarban, 40 adolescent girls explored empathy, developing a deeper understanding of themselves and those around them. At Boinchitala, Dhapa, 50 adolescent girls engaged in sessions on critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving, building the confidence to face challenges and navigate life on their own terms.

Two locations. 90 young women. A shared commitment to growing stronger from within. 🌸

💛 A Space to Be Heard: Group Counselling at Hingalganj

On 1st October 2026, the Naya Disha Project organised a group counselling session at Hingalganj Resource Centre for 20 adolescent girls from the "Alor Disha" and "Swapna Dana" groups. 🌸

In a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space, participants shared their feelings, personal experiences, and challenges openly. Through guided group interaction, the session strengthened self-confidence, developed healthy coping mechanisms, and encouraged positive communication.

Peer support and mutual understanding flourished naturally, reminding every girl in the room that they are not alone. ✨

Sometimes, the most healing thing is simply being heard. 🌿

On 1st October 2026, the MIST Project conducted a capacity-building training with the Women's Group of Sonagachi, where participants learned to make cloth tote bags through stitching and crafting. 🌸

But these were more than bags. Through every stitch, the women channelled their resilience and experiences into something tangible and meaningful.

What they created was not just a product. It was a symbol of strength, creativity, and the quiet but powerful journey from pain to possibility. 💛

🌿 Walking the Ground: A Funder’s Visit to KMWSC

On 28th and 29th September 2026, Ms. Nicoletta Regazzoni from Switzerland visited two KMWSC project locations, gaining a first-hand perspective of the communities and programmes supported by KMWSC. 🌟

At Sonagachi, she observed the Red Light Project, interacted with mothers and children and witnessed a health check-up camp at the resource centre. The following day, she visited the Brickfield School Project in Kalyani, reviewing the curriculum, lesson plans and teaching methods, exploring the sack farming initiative and meeting migrant families living and working in the brickfields. 💛

The visit offered meaningful opportunities to understand community realities, programme approaches and the changes taking place on the ground. 🌸

When we walk alongside communities, their stories become clearer, their voices stronger.
