Bheem bandh Wild life Sanctuary of Bihar (https://lnkd.in/dMrvyD3S) has turned into a public lavatory and open picnic spot. My shocking experience yesterday in this least known and meagerly studied hot spring is shared here in the video. The same day, recently elected ministers of Bihar's new govern...

Under the CLEAR Project- Climate-Led Entrepreneurship through Art of Recycling, implemented by the South Asian Forum for Environment, SAFE and supported by PwC–SDC, in collaboration with Assam Pollution Control Board, organized an advanced skill and capacity-building program in Guwahati. The skill training workshop engaged marginal women and resulted in the recycling of 87 kg of paper and cloth waste into value-added eco-products like diaries, notepads, coin pouches and eco-utility items.
The intervention focused on strengthening technical competencies in paper recycling, handmade sheet making, operating automatic and semi-automatic stitching machines, product finishing, and quality assurance within a circular production framework.

The South Asian Forum for Environment, SAFE with the support of HSBC, inaugurated Project ENTRUST (Energy Neutral Transport River and Upland in Sundarbans Terrain) to establish a decentralised, renewable energy–based transport network in the Sundarbans across the Gosaba–Satjelia–Tipligheri transport corridor.
Through the installation of two 10KVA solar charging hubs, the project establishes a self-sustaining energy ecosystem for e-vans and e-boats serving the region’s inter-island commuters in its first phase.
Over the course of 2025 and 2026, the project aims to install another two 10KVA solar charging hubs, increase its fleet services and routes to cater to more community members across the islands.
By operationalising solar hub units, ENTRUST aims to reduce fossil fuel dependence with locally generated clean energy, thereby aligning community transport systems with national and global decarbonization objectives.
In addition, Project ENTRUST incorporates a community engagement component. Women and youth from local island communities are being trained to operate and maintain the solar charging hubs and associated repair units, ensuring localized governance of the transport system. This participatory framework not only helps build operational capacity but also embeds socioeconomic co-benefits - promoting skill diversification, income generation, and inclusive participation in renewable energy governance within the Sundarbans region.

A musical insight perfectly shaped by our cohort-based, multicultural, transgenerational intervention for smoking cessation in Nepal, implemented by SAFE. This beautiful Nepali melody-sung and composed by Sareg, perfectly complements the project’s context and vision. Heartfelt gratitude to Global Action to End Smoking for their unwavering support throughout this journey.

Focus Group Discussion with the Gorkha Community on Smoking-Related Issues at Deorali Village, Nepal. As part of SAFE’s Cohort-based Multi-cultural, Transgenerational Intervention for Smoking Cessation and Awareness Building, the SAFE team engaged local communities in an open dialogue to understand the social and economic roots of to***co use.

An interesting insight observed that the trekking porters, locally known as Sherpas, avoid smoking to sustain their health, fitness and endurance. In contrast, women in this community reportedly have higher smoking rates, often linked to poverty and stress.

These case studies highlight how livelihood, lifestyle, and culture influence to***co use -inspiring us to design targeted and culturally sensitive smoking cessation communication campaigns.
