Jangal Mahal Udyog( জঙ্গল মহল উদ্যোগ) a Social Welfare & Cultural Group will be officially launched on 1st November, 2014 at 1.00 pm in Kolkata followed by a grand cultural program by different folk groups at Rabindra Sadan premises. Renowned poet Bhabatosh Satpathi will inaugurate the programme. The cultural program will include folk performances on Chhou, Nachni, Natua, Karam, Paik etc and fol

k songs like Jhumur, Tusu, Bhadu, drama in local dialect/ language. The Group is apolitical one and will strive to promote the multidimensional aspects of the socio-culture heritage of the people living in the Jangal Mahal areas comprised of largely the lateritic belts of Purulia, Bankura, Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur and Birbhum districts of West Bengal. The Group will work for strengthening the bond of the traditional folk art of Jangal Mahal with the mainstream cultural world of Kolkata, the Cultural capital of India.
