Strengthening Industry–Skill Development Partnerships!
On 15th July 2026, the CEO and officials of the Indian Iron and Steel Sector Skill Council (IISSSC) had the privilege of visiting the AM/NS INDIA Plant, Hazira, Surat. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to witness world-class steel manufacturing practices, advanced technologies, and best-in-class safety standards.

The interaction focused on strengthening collaboration between industry and the skill ecosystem, aligning workforce development with evolving industry requirements, and exploring future initiatives for enhancing skill development in the iron and steel sector.

We sincerely thank the AM/NS INDIA team for their warm hospitality, insightful discussions, and valuable knowledge-sharing. Together, we remain committed to building a future-ready, skilled workforce for India's steel industry.

The Iron and Steel Sector Skill Council successfully conducted the NOS Committee Meeting on 07 July 2026, with active participation from esteemed industry representatives.

We sincerely thank the experts from Hindalco Industries Ltd., IIW, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), JSW JFE Steel Limited, AM/NS India, and Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd. for their valuable insights and contributions towards strengthening Occupational Standards for the iron and steel sector.

The collaborative discussions and expert recommendations will play a significant role in ensuring that industry requirements are effectively reflected in the National Occupational Standards (NOS), supporting the development of a skilled and future-ready workforce.

Strengthening Leadership. Driving Excellence. Shaping the Future.
The 45th Board of Directors Meeting of the Indian Iron and Steel Sector Skill Council (IISSSC) was successfully held on 25th June 2026 at the Kolkata Office.
The meeting marked a significant milestone as Mr. Dilip Oommen, CEO of AM/NS India, (a JV between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel) was warmly welcomed as the Chairman of IISSSC. During the session, Mr. Diptendu Bhattacharya (CEO of IISSSC) presented the Council's achievements, strategic roadmap, and Business Plan for the FY 2026–27.
A proud moment for IISSSC was the recognition of its remarkable progress, with the Council improving its national ranking from 15th to 7th among all Sector Skill Councils in the previous financial year. This achievement reflects the collective commitment of our Board, industry partners, stakeholders, and dedicated team towards building a skilled workforce for India's Iron and Steel Sector.
Together, we remain committed to empowering youth, strengthening industry partnerships, and contributing to the vision of Skilled India.
