*World Mangrove Day | 26 July*
Established by UNESCO in 2015, World Mangrove Day reminds us of the vital role mangrove forests play in protecting our coasts, preserving biodiversity, and supporting millions of lives.
Today, eight clubs of IWC, including our club, together with Shahanshah Mirza and the members of Puruno Kolkatar Golpo, have joined hands to restore the green shield of the Sundarbans.
As part of this initiative, we are planting 250 mangrove saplings (200 Sundari trees and 50 mango saplings) at Pathankhali, Sundarban. Each participating clubs contribution towards the plantation, along with the year-long nurturing and care of the saplings to ensure their survival and healthy growth. Sorry I couldn’t go to this project as I am out of station.
Every sapling planted today is a promise for a greener, stronger, and more resilient tomorrow. Thanks to IWC Dhakuria to initiate the project.
Let us honour and support the hands that plant hope along the muddy shores of our beloved delta.
