A Breastfeeding Awareness Program was successfully organized as a joint initiative of 57 Inner Wheel Clubs at the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matri Bhavan School of Nursing.

The program featured an interactive session with the 4th-year nursing students by PDC Dr Ruchi Gupta focusing on the importance of breastfeeding awareness, maternal and child health, and the vital role of healthcare professionals in promoting breastfeeding practices.

As part of this meaningful initiative, two essential medical equipment were donated to the hospital:

* Multipara Monitor for the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
* Indirect Ophthalmoscope for the Eye OPD

This joint project reflects the commitment of Inner Wheel towards supporting quality healthcare, strengthening medical education and contributing to the well-being of mothers and newborns.

*World Mangrove Day | 26 July*

Established by UNESCO in 2015, World Mangrove Day reminds us of the vital role mangrove forests play in protecting our coasts, preserving biodiversity, and supporting millions of lives.

Today, eight clubs of IWC, including our club, together with Shahanshah Mirza and the members of Puruno Kolkatar Golpo, have joined hands to restore the green shield of the Sundarbans.
As part of this initiative, we are planting 250 mangrove saplings (200 Sundari trees and 50 mango saplings) at Pathankhali, Sundarban. Each participating clubs contribution towards the plantation, along with the year-long nurturing and care of the saplings to ensure their survival and healthy growth. Sorry I couldn’t go to this project as I am out of station.
Every sapling planted today is a promise for a greener, stronger, and more resilient tomorrow. Thanks to IWC Dhakuria to initiate the project.
Let us honour and support the hands that plant hope along the muddy shores of our beloved delta.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sourodip and his family, like many others, faced severe financial hardship due to unemployment and the loss of a steady source of income. His mother, a masseuse, became the family’s sole breadwinner and they later suffered the heartbreaking loss of his father.

Despite these challenges, Sourodip completed his schooling at Mitra Institution and secured admission to a Hotel Management Institute. IWC Calcutta Midwest supported his journey by sponsoring 50% of his admission fees.

Today, we are delighted to celebrate his remarkable achievement. After successfully completing his course and training at The Park, Kolkata, Sourodip has begun his professional career with ITC Fortune, Coimbatore, where he is expected to be promoted to Assistant Manager in the near future.
The members of IWC Calcutta Midwest are immensely proud of Sourodip and all that he has accomplished. His determination, resilience, and hard work are truly inspiring. We wish him continued success and every happiness in all his future endeavours.
Our sincere thanks to Tania Saha and her team for their unwavering support and guidance during her tenure, which played an important role in helping Sourodip achieve this milestone.
