Breaking Pots, Breaking Taboos- Turning a Simple Game into Social Change

We often see games as just a source of fun and entertainment. But what if a simple game could start powerful conversations and challenge deep-rooted social issues?

Talking about topics like child marriage, dowry, or domestic violence is not eas, especially in rural communities. People often feel uncomfortable, judged, or choose to stay silent. So, we chose a different approach. We turned awareness into an experience.

Our approach: Awareness through Pot-Breaking (Hari Bhanga). Instead of long lectures, we use a familiar and joyful local game to bring people together and open up dialogue.

How it works:
1. Clay pots are labelled with real social issues like Child Marriage, Dowry, Domestic Violence
2. Participants are blindfolded and try to break a pot
3. When a pot breaks, we celebrate and then begin a short, friendly discussion about how we can break that issue in real life

What makes this approach powerful:

We usually see this game as just a fun activity. But when messages are written on the pots, the game becomes meaningful.

We carefully choose issues that are very common in the local community issues people experience but often do not talk about openly.

Because of this: People can easily connect with the issue, They feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, Silence slowly turns into conversation

What social issue do you think we should “break” next? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Opportunities come into our lives in many ways, but they should never be limited to only a few people. It is important to create opportunities for everyone, regardless of who they are.

Life may bring many challenges and difficult situations, but that does not mean we stop moving forward. Instead, we should support each other, stand together, and help create equal opportunities for all.

Let us make sure that our actions never become a barrier to someone else’s progress. Rather, let us be the reason someone gets the chance to grow and move ahead.

Let talent decide the game, not gender

When we assign sports separately for boys and girls, are we really judging ability or just following outdated social beliefs?

From a young age, girls are often pushed toward “low strength” games because they are seen as weak.
But this mindset doesn’t just limit them physically it holds them back socially and in terms of gender equality.

The truth is: With equal opportunities, training, and support, both boys and girls can excel in any sport.

Let the playground be a space of equality
Let interest and skill—not gender—guide choices
Break stereotypes, build a new mindset

Let’s play equal. Let’s grow equal.

Parichay Concludes: A Step Towards Safer, Inclusive Classrooms

On 6th–7th March 2026, Parichay brought together teachers from four districts(Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas & Birbhum) of West Bengal for a 1.5-day space of reflection and co-learning, organized by EquiDiversity Foundation and AltED.

Many teachers shared a common concern , feeling unsure about how to respond to the rapidly changing world of adolescents, especially in today’s digital age.

The discussions focused on gender equality, mental health, and digital citizenship. Social media emerged as a “third guardian,” shaping young minds, often with complex and negative impacts.

A key reflection stood out: young people’s needs remain the same, but the ways those needs are fulfilled have changed.

Teachers also reflected that going forward, they need to engage more in dialogue and experience-sharing with students, and even develop small classroom-based curriculum or modules to better respond to these changes.

Parichay was not just about learning, but about listening and growing together, taking a step towards classrooms that are safe, inclusive, and responsive.

Storytelling Workshop - An Unforgettable Experience

We all carry countless stories within us, stories that connect us, shape us, and inspire us. In both our personal and professional lives, we are constantly creating and discovering new stories. This space helped us reflect on how storytelling allows us to share our experiences, how they have moved us, transformed us, and continue to guide us forward while strengthening our relationships.

After a long time, we truly reconnected with ourselves understanding our emotions, desires, and inner senses more deeply.

Over these two days, we stepped away from daily stress, opened up about mental health, and explored ways to care for ourselves and handle life’s challenges.

Most importantly, we laughed, expressed freely, and created a safe, joyful space together

A truly enriching and memorable experience.

Strengthening Teamwork for Greater Social Impact

The team of Equidiversity Foundation came together for an intensive Organisation Development (OD) and Team Building Workshop. The training gave us an opportunity to reflect on our roles, strengthen teamwork, and improve how we work together to create meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

Through participatory exercises, group discussions, simulations, and reflections, we explored several important aspects of our work, teams, leadership and growth.

This workshop was not just about learning new concepts- it was about reflecting together, strengthening relationships, revisit roles and accountability & building a shared vision for impactful social work.

Thank you Ramkrishna Surdeo Sir for taking us through this process. Thank you Dilip Banerjee for being a witness to this.

More than a vocational course, it’s a journey of empowerment.

Women from different parts of West Bengal came together to learn, grow, and dream bigger.

These Tailoring and Jute Training Programmes were successfully completed with the participation of women from Kolkata, Birbhum, Purulia, and South 24 Parganas.

Through this training, women didn’t just learn stitching skills, they also gained avenues to turn learning into livelihoods and skills into strength.

Because when a woman earns, an entire family moves forward.

From Participation to Transformation: Our Youth, Our Voice, Our Commitment to Health & Equality.

On behalf of Equidiversity Foundation (EDF), we are proud to share that 8 dynamic youth representatives from our organization actively participated in the National Conference on Men’s Physical, Mental & Sexual Health – HE for HEALTH: Rethinking Masculinities, organized by Forum to Engage Men (FEM), West Bengal, held on 9th–10th January 2026 in Digha.

Throughout the two-day conference, EDF participants meaningfully engaged with practitioners, activists, experts, and organizations from across India. Our team actively took part in diverse panel discussions, world café sessions, sociogram activities, gallery walks, and interactive dialogues on masculinities, men’s health, mental well-being, and sexual health.

EDF also displayed a stall, creating space to share our work, connect with like-minded organizations, and engage participants in conversations around gender equality, inclusion, and youth-led change. Our youth further showcased their confidence and creativity by participating in cultural programmes, contributing to the vibrant and inclusive spirit of the conference.

We believe such platforms are crucial in nurturing informed, confident, and socially responsible youth who can lead conversations on health, well-being, and gender justice at the grassroots level
We extend our sincere gratitude to Forum to Engage Men (FEM), West Bengal, all speakers, partners, participants, and the organizing team for creating such a thought-provoking, safe, and collaborative space.

Local adolescents and Ichhedana Fellows organized a small awareness rally in Dulmi village of Tatuara, Purulia to spread a strong message against child marriage. The rally was a response to a recent child marriage incident in the village that was successfully prevented through timely community intervention.

With support from teachers of Dulmi Primary School, former member Sharif Ansari and members of the Nari Jagaran Committee and Sangha, the rally moved through the neighborhoods reaching out to the community. The initiative reflected the collective commitment of Dulmi’s adults to protect children rights and ensure a safe, dignified future for every child.

🔓 Opening Doors, Breaking Silence!
Recently, our Kolkata team successfully hosted the "BANDH DARWAJA KHOLO" campaign. This wasn't just an event; it was a collective movement toward equality, peace and non-violence.
We visited 50+ homes to break the silence on discrimination and listen to real-life problems.

The goal was simple: To turn the "hidden" into the "spoken." Every conversation we had was a step toward a society where everyone—regardless of gender, caste, or religion—feels heard and respected.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers and community members who dared to speak up! ✊✨

Youths from Purulia came together for a Bhavna Network workshop, along with Anjali and Bhavna team supported by Agamee Society. A total of 54 adolescents and network members participated and later 32 adolescents registered their names for joining the Koishore Dol.
Using films, games, and the "Matrix Method," they took a deep dive into complex issues like child marriage, elopement, and disability rights. The session introduced the Bhavna Network and encouraged support-seeking. A thought-provoking film on inclusive education sparked reflection.

These young voices are the frontline in the fight against child marriage. Together, we are building a more inclusive and empowered future!
