An important programme for Small Tea Growers was successfully organised on 3 August 2026 at Sittong, Darjeeling, under the aegis of the Tea Board of India, with the objective of enhancing the livelihood and income of small tea growers.

The programme was inspired by the visionary leadership of C. Murugan, IAS, Deputy Chairman, Tea Board of India, who emphasized that Small Tea Growers should establish Mini Tea Factories to promote entrepreneurship, increase value addition, strengthen tea marketing, and enhance their income. His vision aims to empower tea growers through sustainable and self-reliant tea production.

This was the first programme of its kind in the Sittong area, attended by the top leadership of the Tea Board of India. The presence of senior officials provided an excellent platform for direct interaction with tea growers, enabling them to gain valuable guidance on modern tea cultivation, processing, quality improvement, marketing opportunities, and government support initiatives.

Sundarban Dream took the initiative to organise this significant programme for the upliftment and socio-economic development of the Small Tea Growers’ community in Sittong, Darjeeling. The event served as an important milestone in promoting sustainable tea-based livelihoods in the region.

The Small Tea Growers expressed their heartfelt appreciation and satisfaction for the inspiring guidance and practical direction provided by Shri C. Murugan, IAS. Tea Board officials also shared valuable information, technical knowledge, and innovative development strategies for strengthening the tea sector.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to Shri C. Murugan, IAS, the Tea Board of India, and all the officials for their visionary leadership, commitment, and unwavering support towards empowering the Small Tea Growers’ community and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in the Darjeeling hills.

Coffee has emerged as a promising crop for enhancing livelihoods in the hilly regions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. We are proud and delighted that, nearly a decade ago, Sundarban Dream took the initiative to promote coffee cultivation as an alternative livelihood opportunity for the people of the hills in West Bengal.

Today, 1 August 2026, an important planning meeting was held in Darjeeling to discuss sustainable livelihood enhancement practices for small growers. The meeting focused on strengthening agricultural opportunities, improving income generation, promoting market linkages, and ensuring long-term socio-economic development for farming communities.

Consumer Awareness Program on Telecom Tariffs, Billing & Broadcasting

Today, 30 July 2026, a Consumer Awareness Program on Telecom Tariffs, Billing & Broadcasting was successfully organized under the aegis of TRAI at Nani Bhattacharya Smarak College, Jaigaon, Kalchini, Alipurduar.

The program was graced by Dr. A. K. De, Principal, NBSM College; Mr. Pabitra Basak, Assistant Director, Consumer Affairs & Fair Business Practices, Government of West Bengal,Alipurduar Regional Office; Mr. N. K Rasaily, Expert of Tele consumers, Smt. S. Lama, Inspector of Police; representatives from Jio; and many other distinguished guests.

The distinguished speakers highlighted telecom consumer rights, telecom tariffs and billing, broadcasting services, digital awareness, and other key telecom issues, empowering participants to become informed and responsible digital consumers.

Today, 23 July 2026, an important meeting was held with Mr. Tim Bowls from the United Kingdom at the APEDA Office, Salt Lake City, Kolkata, to discuss the conservation of civilisation and its linkages with sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by APEDA officials and Mr. Ziarul Haq a special guest from side of Dept. Of P & RD, GoWB other distinguished dignitaries, and was coordinated by our respected advisor and mentor, Mr. Sarde Alam Ji. It was a meaningful interaction focused on strengthening collaboration and exploring future opportunities for heritage conservation and community development.

Today, 17 July 2026, we had a special meeting with the Hon’ble Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in Ranchi to discuss strategic activities and future planning for promoting sustainable livelihood practices across Jharkhand.

The discussion focused on strengthening agriculture and allied sectors, creating livelihood opportunities, and improving the socio-economic well-being of rural and marginal communities through innovative and sustainable initiatives.

Today, an important meeting was held with the Hon’ble Agriculture Minister of Jharkhand and senior government officials at Ranchi, Jharkhand, to discuss key agricultural development initiatives and future collaborative activities.

Today, germinated paddy seeds were prepared for sowing in the seed bed as an important step toward establishing a healthy paddy crop. Proper seed germination and careful seed bed preparation ensure uniform seedling emergence, vigorous plant growth, and improved crop productivity.

This activity promotes timely transplantation, enhances crop establishment, and contributes to higher yields and better livelihoods for farming communities. Adopting scientific seed preparation practices helps reduce crop losses, improve seedling quality, and strengthen sustainable rice cultivation.

Today, 2 July 2026, an important meeting was held between the State Bank of India (SBI) Local Head Office, Kolkata and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority to discuss financial support mechanisms for exporters.

The meeting focused on strengthening access to finance, promoting export-oriented businesses, and facilitating better business practices through enhanced institutional support. Such collaborative initiatives are expected to improve the competitiveness of Indian exporters, encourage sustainable export growth, and create greater income and employment opportunities across the agricultural and allied sectors.
