🌿 Let’s make Dhotrey a model clean and green Himalayan village — and inspire every mountain community to follow. 🏔️

Dhotrey Forest Village, the gateway to Singalila National Park and a recognised Biodiversity Heritage Site, now has 6 aerobic tumbler bio-composters donated to the Dhotrey community by Migma Sherpa of Dekho Darjeeling through RUR Greenlife—which will help convert wastes from homestays, cafes and restaurants turn into rich compost for local farmers. We are raising ₹20,000 to build protective shades over these composters to protect them from rain, snow and harsh mountain weather. Your support will help reduce waste significantly, support sustainable agriculture and promote responsible tourism in the Singalila
Himalayas. For the Mountains and it’s lovely people please support us.💚

“If children don’t grow up knowing about nature and appreciating it, they will not understand it, and if they don’t understand it, they won’t protect it, and if they don’t protect it, who will?”~Sir David Attenborough

Just like last year, .travel ~ a wildlife tourism organization and one of our collaborators, brought together UK gap year students and Indian students last month, for an immersive field visit, this time to Jharkhali, Sundarbans. 🌿

From staying at .retreat.sundarbans to gliding through mangrove creeks on a nature safari, and walking through our mangrove restoration zones—this was more than a visit, it was an experience of learning, exchange, and connection with the wild.

Some gestures go beyond charity~they become a tradition of care. 💚 Every year, Arijit Das and family, long-standing supporters and well-wishers of Prameya, honour the memory of Late Arun Chandra Das through a meaningful contribution.

This year, their support has helped:• Sponsor tuition fees for 5 children• Install a WiFi router to bridge the digital divide• Arrange a wholesome lunch for the students

Last year, the family extended their warmth by gifting umbrellas and raincoats to the students of Sundarban Pathshala.

In the years before that, Arijit Das and family also arranged special lunches for the children at our Sundarban Pathshala, continuing a beautiful tradition of giving.

Grateful for partnerships rooted in compassion, memory, and impact. 🙏🌱

Spring has arrived in the hills of Dhotrey, and with it began the first class of this season’s Nature Pathshala, supported by .🌺📚

Fittingly, the class took place under a magnificent Rhododendron tree in full bloom~known locally as Laali Guras in the Gorkhali language. This is the season of spring when the forests of the Darjeeling Hills light up with many species of rhododendrons, painting the mountains in shades of red and pink. 🌺

As the forests awaken, we hope this new session of Nature Pathshala also brings fresh curiosity, new hope, and new beginnings for our students and the community.

A heartfelt thank you to Mohan Gurung and Suman Tamang for guiding the session and sharing their knowledge with the young learners. 🌿📚

A day well spent with friends who know how to keep their eyes on the skies and ears to the trees. Members of the Bird Watchers’ Society dropped by Prameya Pryongon stayed at .retreat.sundarbans at Jharkhali in the Sundarbans~wandering through our restoration site in search of feathered residents. Cameras clicked, binoculars stayed busy, and between the wetlands and the trees around Pryongon, a delightful 33 species of birds were recorded! 🐦📷

A big thank you to Amitava Dutta, and Sankha Mishra for the visit and the shared enthusiasm.

Safe to say..something is brewing together. Stay tuned… more chirpy collaborations coming soon! 🌿✨
