"The reality of a startup is you have failures very often." - Ritesh Agarwal
Ritesh Agarwal is an Indian entrepreneur, billionaire, and the founder and CEO of the country’s largest hospitality chain, OYO Hotels & Homes.
Agarwal started an online short-stay listing venture, Oravel, at a young age, which was renamed to OYO in 2013. Under his leadership, the Gurugram-headquartered OYO expanded rapidly from India to Malaysia and the USA, and today is present in 80 countries and in over 800 cities.
From a small-town boy who used to sell SIM cards in Odisha, he became one of the world's youngest self-made billionaires by the age of 22.
Lessons to learn from Ritesh Agarwal :
1. Stay away from family when you are working on a startup.
2. One should accept failure, and be willing to learn, unlearn and relearn again.
3. Nobody or no company in this world can say they have got everything right and it has been a perfect journey.
4. There is always room for improvement in experience and it can be achieved if one listens to the customers carefully.
5. While one is in the process of coming up with a truly innovative solution, it is essential to keep an open mind.
