🌸 Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

Today, we honor the women who nurture, guide, sacrifice, and love unconditionally. Across every faith, culture, and tradition, motherhood is cherished as a sacred gift — a reflection of compassion, strength, patience, and grace.

Whether we call her Mother, Mom, Ammi, Maa, Mum, or by another loving name, the bond between a mother and child speaks a universal language that unites humanity beyond religion or background.

In our interfaith community, let us celebrate not only our own mothers, but all women who care for others with kindness and wisdom — grandmothers, guardians, mentors, caregivers, and spiritual mothers.

May we continue to build a world rooted in the values mothers teach us best: love, peace, empathy, and understanding.

💐 Wishing a joyful and blessed Mother’s Day to all who nurture life and hope in our communities.

On the sacred occasion of Buddha Purnima, we extend our heartfelt wishes to all. May we be inspired by his message of compassion, non-violence, and inner awakening and his path reminds us that true peace begins within and radiates outward to create harmony among all beings.
Let us continue to build bridges of understanding, respect diversity, and work together for a culture of peace, justice, and healing for our Earth.

Peace to all, everywhere.

9 wonderful years since the creation of the URI East India page in 2017 — a journey filled with compassion, collaboration, and shared purpose. At the same time, we honour our deeper roots regional activities in East India began as early as 1997, and the first Cooperation Circle EKTAAN was established in 1998. This legacy continues to inspire and guide our path today.

From humble beginnings to a vibrant and growing network, this journey has been made possible by each one of you. Our dedicated members, CC coordinators, volunteers, and well-wishers. Your continuous efforts, trust, and belief in interfaith harmony have shaped URI East India into a truly inspiring family.

👌 Together, we have built more than just a network, we have nurtured a bond of unity, respect, and collective action.
👌 Together, we continue to create spaces for dialogue, understanding, and peace and intervene to stop violence.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to every member for your invaluable contributions and for keeping the spirit of togetherness alive. And many more years of strengthening our connections and growing as a vibrant URI family!

Sunita Singh, one of our dedicated CC members from New Mission Lifecare Foundation, is a truly inspiring individual who sets a powerful example for all.

Despite being a school teacher and residing in a remote area of Jharkhand, she consistently goes above and beyond to support the needy and uplift the underprivileged with unwavering commitment.

A woman of vision and initiative, Sunita actively engages in livelihood-based activities that promote self-reliance. She has recently taken up the creation of jute handbags, crafting each piece entirely by hand without the use of machines.

What makes her effort even more commendable is her selfless decision to donate her own machine to underprivileged women, enabling them to earn a sustainable livelihood.

Today, she continues her work with her own hands, embodying the true spirit of sacrifice and empowerment.

In addition to this, she also prepares handmade papads, further contributing to local, sustainable income-generating practices. Her work not only reflects creativity and resilience but also promotes dignity of labor and grassroots entrepreneurship.

Throughout her life, she has devoted her earnings to social work, consistently contributing towards the welfare of others and supporting meaningful causes within her community.

Sunita Singh’s journey is a shining example of how one individual can create meaningful change in society. Her compassion, generosity, and dedication to community welfare align deeply with the values of our organization. Through her actions, she continues to inspire others to contribute towards building a more inclusive and self-reliant society.

United Religions Initiative - East India
successfully conducted a day-long interfaith youth training workshop in Ranchi, Jharkhand, bringing together 15 young participants aged 18 to 30 under the theme “Voices of Unity: Empowering Interfaith Youth Leadership.”

The workshop began with an engaging session led by the Regional Coordinator of URI East India, who introduced participants to the history and founding vision of URI. Youth reflected on the organization’s Preamble, Purpose, and Principles, deepening their understanding of its global mission for peace and interfaith cooperation. An audio-visual presentation further enriched the session by showcasing URI’s impactful work and development across different parts of the world.

A key highlight of the day was an interactive group discussion based on the Appreciative Inquiry model. Participants paired up to share one significant social issue they wish to address. These conversations were later presented to the larger group, enabling youth to collectively identify priority areas for action, opportunities for collaboration, and the need for further learning.

Several pressing concerns emerged during the discussions. Participants strongly voiced the need to address caste-based discrimination, especially in educational institutions where children continue to face unequal treatment. There was also a shared call for reform in the education system to make it more inclusive and equitable. Youth from the North Eastern states highlighted ongoing ethnic conflicts in their regions and appreciated URI’s role in creating spaces for dialogue, understanding differences, and bridging religious and cultural divides.

The workshop was further enriched by the participation of members from nine Cooperation Circles (CCs), who presented their grassroots work through audio-visual means. Their presentations provided valuable insights into community-level interfaith initiatives, inspiring participants with practical examples of peacebuilding in action.

In the post-lunch session, all 28 participants engaged in interactive activities, including a fun communication game and interfaith crossword exercises, fostering teamwork and deeper understanding among the group.

The workshop successfully achieved its objectives, leaving participants motivated and inspired. Many expressed interest in continuing their engagement through internships with Cooperation Circles and participating in future peacebuilding training programs.

The event stands as a testament to URI East India’s commitment to nurturing young leaders who can champion unity, dialogue, and social transformation in a diverse and complex society.
