Khelo Rugby
*In Hindi Khelo means Play
Khelo Rugby brings adventure, challenge and excitement into children’s lives. Khelo Rugby was started in January 2010. Having worked with disadvantaged and street children for many years we wanted to do something that focussed on supporting children using our rugby. We are now creating communities of children across cities that have a common bond through rug
by. We know the benefit organised sports and activities can make to a child and we love sharing our rugby, so we've put this in place for communities across Kolkata, in schools and with NGOs. We also work in Saraswatipur in the North of West Bengal, in Bengaluru and in Jharkhand. We've also undertaken outreach and supported work in Nepal and Pakistan. Playing while learning is fun so each month we focus on a specific theme and work with the children in developing activities around that theme. Khelo Rugby is managed by youngsters who have been brought up within disadvantaged communities so they can relate to and counsel other youngsters.
