DEWS was established with a humble vision of serving the children of the underprivileged and the most vulnerable groups of children, especially street and working children. DEWS since its inception has been helping the children who dare to dream for a better future. We aim to educate and impart life skills to vulnerable children so that they become self-reliant in future. We are committed to the w
elfare of the most underprivileged strata of society without distinction of caste, creed or colour. The academy is a registered charity and aims to tackle the problems of poverty by providing free formal education to kids living on the footpaths around Sovabazar Metro Station, Kolkata. We ideated of DEWS a few years back when we began interacting with children living on the streets. During the initial years, we used to hold the classes twice a week for the children in the evening on the footpath laying a mat. We however later relocated the activities to a formal setup at Hemkunj at BK Pal More in Kolkata. We also organize a healthcare and sanitation drive every month. We wish to live in a world where this behemoth drain of resources can be directed to feed the hungry and provide education to the enquiring. We hope to assist and support the deprived and help them to join the mainstream society. Our logo symbolises our vision for the future – a future where these children who has been denied even the necessities of life can look forward to a new day, a new day full of opportunities and no hunger, suffering, abuse and poverty.
