The world today is becoming more and more synchronized with a nucleolus family consisting husband, wife and their children where, in most cases, old parents are sometime considered as unbearable burden and thrown into old age homes. With the advancement of science and expansion of the world through satellite and internet the human world is becoming more and compartmentalize. Showing sympathy to th
e excluded people of the society or helping them for their progress and betterment of their condition is now a day considered as foolishness. But the reality is that behind the glittering veil of progress and growing GDP till, after 65 years of our Independence, a considerable section of our population is still living below the poverty line suffering from hunger, disease and illiteracy. Cores of people are still homeless having no security of food and other essentials of living the life of a proper human being. There is severe dearth of selfless compassionate people to stand beside those helpless families. Still there is some thin ray of hope as still a small section of people do come forward to dedicate their life for the cause of the suffering people. Such a young man was Sri Jayanta Bhattarcharya, who, being highly influenced by the clarion call of Swami Vivekananda, came out of his shell and dedicated his life for the cause of poor and helpless people. He influenced some his friends and students( Somnath Das, Ajoy Pal, Mriganko Kar,Baishakhi Sengupta,Subir Ghose, Chiranjib Saha, Arnab Guha, Rana Chakroborty, Tapas Mukherjee and Avijit Majumdar) and started the Organization under the banner Helping Hand , on 26th January,2000, having its Registered Office at “Chandranath Bhavan”, Biswas Para, Uttar Ramchandrapur, Narendrapur, South 24 Parganas having philosophy of Serving the God through Serving the People as propagated by Swami Vivekenanda. Social Service Activities of the Organization was started in June 2000 through distribution of text books among the poor and meritorious students of class six to class nine of Laskarpur Rabindra Bidyapith and Laskarpur Vidyasagar Bidyapith. After sometime the name of the Organization changed to Narendrapur Helping Hand and regular activities started. During this period eminent lawyear Sri Arindam Mukhopadhyay generously assisted the Organization to stand on strong ground. During later period the Organization got registered under Sec 80G and 12AA of Income Tax Act. Main objective of Narendrapur Helping Hand is to help assist poor and neglected children and women through different means to elevate them into a healthy and honourable human life and also to make the women aware about health and social situation. To transform the objective into reality our Organization is planning and implementing some welfare and development projects. One of such project is child health – both preventive through awareness and curative. Under this programme our Organization is organizing Health-awareness and Health Check up camps among the students of different school of Bonhoghly area of South 24 Parganas. Activities like Health Check up of boys and girls by qualified doctors and arranging necessary medicine and nutritious food are undertaken. The programme is named “Sanjibani Project” in which several eminent doctors , schools and teachers and well known social activists are actively associated. The Organizing is running two crèche centres for the children of very poor working mothers’ most of them are household workers. Another important activity of the Organization is free distribution of books among poor and meritorious students. A regular important activity of the Organization is to work for prevention of Malaria, arranging different type of vaccines, motivating the people for different types of sanitary latrines and making them aware about clean environment through cleaning drains, ponds etc. Though organizing awareness camps in mthe back villages of Bonhoghly Gram Panchayet area. Other activities of the Organization are to raise fund for Thalasemia through magic show, puppet show etc, distribution of fruits among the patient of Boral Mother Teresa T.B.Hospital, distribution of blankets among poor and destitute children, organizing Diabetes Awareness, Health Check up, Blood Donation and Eye Check up camps at Garia S.B Girls High School and Bibek Bharati Social Welfare Center. National Medical College and some eminent doctors helped our organization for these activities. Every year 14th November the Organization take part in the rally organize by Dr. N.K. The Organization also observe National Children Day on 14th November every year through organizing different cultural programme involving specially cared and disable children. The Organization also arrange a Special Programme on the day at Satyajit Roy Park, Patuli with the children from different reputed Institutions of Kolkata. A Medical Assistance Centre was first started at the waiting hall of Kamdahari Basana Kali Bari with the benevolent ideal of providing medical assistance to low income group people. Due to some unavoidable problems the Centre was temporary shifted to Garia Tentultala Milan Samity. At present this Medical Care Centre is functioning at Bibek Bharati Samaj Seva Kendra. Here every Monday at 4 p.m. Dr. Debdas Deb ( Homeopath) and everu thrus day eminent Pediatrition Dr. Falguni Banerjee examine patient without any fee. Several eminent persons and doctors of greater Garia area are now associated with our Organization. Out of them Dr. Samir Kumar Mukherjee, Ex-Principal of Netaji Nagar Day college, Dr. Tarak Sarkar, Principal K.K.Das College, Social Worker Sri Ajit Banerjee, Sri Asoke Kumar Dutta, Prof. Debasish Chakroborty, Freedom fighter Sri Gopal ganguli, Ex-Councilor Sri Birendra Nath Ghosh,Sri Nirmalya Bhattrarcharya, Sri Aniruddha Gupta, Eminent Physician Dr. Nilkrishna Pal,Dr. Samapti Bhattacharya, Dr. Asish Bhattacharya, Dr. Dilip Bhattacharya, Dr. Subasish Roy, Dr. K.K.Pal, Dr. Anirban Roy, Dr. Falguni Bandopadhyay should be very specially mentioned. Like any other organization our Organization also not totally free from problems. We have a lot of dreams but financial contrain is the main problem before us. The activities of the Organization are mostly running by the fianacial assistance of some members, donations from some compassionate people and limited Government grant. But due to untimely and uncertain disbursement of Government grant amount make the problem grave. But we are hopeful to usher in a bright future with the selfless help of compassionate and kind hearted people and organizations. Donation is Exempeted under Income Tax Act , Section 80G
