On 8th August Rotary Club of Calcutta South Circle held their 8th Installation ceremony at Zade 2 Banquet of Eastern Metropolitan Club. IPP Rtn Tapas Kumar Seal hand over the baton to Rtn Nirmal Kumar Das for the Rotary Year (RY) 2026-27.

District Governor 3291 for RY 2026-27 Rtn Tapas Bhattacharya, District Governor for RY 2027-28 Rtn Purnendu Roychowdhury and District Governor for RY 2028-29 Rtn. Brotindro Mullick graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Special Guest respectively. The ceremony was also attended by out Club Zonal Coordinator Rtn. Murli Jaiswal, Assistant Governor Rtn. Soumitra Kumar Roy, other dignitaries from the District Secretariat, our Rotarian and non-Rotarian friends and our family members.

Calcutta South Circle is privileged to have those eminent guests. Our members are committed to serve our society under the able leadership of our beloved DG 2026-27 Rtn Tapas Bhattacharya.

The Rotary Club of Calcutta South Circle formally launches its 'Thalassemia Awareness' project for the Rotary Year 2026-27 at Calcutta Rescue Pathshala, located at 20 Iswar Mill Lane, Kolkata 700006, proximate to Scottish Church Collegiate School, on July 17, 2026. Rtn Subhojit Roy, Advisor for the District Thalassemia Awareness & Prevention Committee (RY 2026-27), served as the keynote speaker, addressing approximately 60 students, comprising boys and girls predominantly from classes VIII to XI. The interactive session was designed to captivate the students' attention. Calcutta Rescue ensured seamless ex*****on with their team and infrastructure support. Rtn Nirmal K Das, President, along with Rtn Amrita and Rtn Sukhendu of the club, personally oversaw the project's implementation.

Our Club President RTN Nirmal Das and Club Secretary RTN Gour Gopal Roy for RY 2026-27, with other members attended today’s District Learning Assembly (DLA 2026) of RID 3291. It was an excellent event to kick off ensuing Rotary Year 2026-27! Thanks to our beloved DG of RY 2026-27 Rtn. Tapas Bhattacharya and his Secretariat team along with Lead Host Club- Rotary Club of Belur. Our Club wishes own District a very fruitful and value added Rotary Year ahed!

On first day of March our club has donated 5 Desk Top Computers ( including UPS ) + 1 Printer for resident students of the Antyodaya Anath Ashram , Paunshi, East Medinipur, West Bengal. In presence of Shri Balaram Karan, the Hony. Secretary of the Ashram, full house of teachers, students, other staff, other inhabitants of the Centre and various other distinguished guests our Club President Rtn. Tapas Seal along with the Club Secretary, Rtn. Pampa Roy and one of the Past Presidents of the Club have inaugurated the DIGITAL LITERACY MOVEMENT of the Ashram. The Day was celebrated as ‘Bosontoutsav’ marking the celebration of Dolyatra and Holi, the festival of colour with a series of excellent and mind-boggling cultural performances, followed by a sumptuous lunch hosted the donee organization.

We feel proud of getting opportunity to contribute towards facilitating the students to uplift their educational standards and creating more opportunity for their better professional career.

Our club would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Eastern India Rotary Welfare Trust for providing all needful help including providing a considerable chunk of the required fund. We also provide thanks to our beloved DG, Rtn. Dr. Ramendu Homchaudhury and the first lady Rtn. Bandana Homchaudhury, of RID 3291 for their continuous encouragement for undertaking such impactful projects!

As a part of District Initiative today 50 Blankets are distributed in Gangadharpur Area of Howrah District. Most of the Beneficiaries are from the class of daily labours engaged in agriculture and / or different trades. Immense smiles on their faces made our days today. Thanks fellow club members for their support to make it successful.🙏🙏
