🌿 A Proud Milestone. A Journey of Purpose. A Moment of Gratitude. 🌿

Today, my heart is filled with gratitude and humility as I share a milestone that belongs to every individual who has been a part of the KMN Foundation journey.

I am delighted to announce that the story of KMN Foundation has been published by Emerald Publishing in the prestigious Emerging Markets Case Studies under the title:

What started during the COVID-19 pandemic as a humble effort to transform discarded clothes into reusable RagBags has grown into a movement that has touched thousands of lives. Today, our initiative has:
💚 Reached 20,000 households across 12 states
👩‍🧵 Created sustainable livelihood opportunities for 572+ women and LGBTQ+ artisans
♻️ Prevented over 10 million single-use plastic carry bags
🌍 Diverted tonnes of textile waste from landfills while contributing to climate action and a circular economy.

This publication is not merely about our achievements—it is about the resilience of women artisans who refused to give up, the strength of the LGBTQ+ community who embraced new opportunities, and the belief that environmental sustainability and inclusive development can go hand in hand.

I offer my heartfelt gratitude to my Alma Mater, Indian Institute of Management Shillong, for instilling in me the values of ethical leadership, social responsibility, and purpose-driven entrepreneurship. The guidance and learning I received continue to inspire every step of this journey.

A special note of appreciation to Sudhanshu Shekhar and Prof. Prasanta Kr. Chopdar for documenting our journey so thoughtfully and transforming it into a case study that can inspire students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and changemakers around the world.

I also extend my sincere thanks to every artisan, volunteer, donor, CSR partner, academic institution, mentor, friend, and well-wisher who believed in our vision. This recognition belongs to all of you.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also reaffirm our commitment to creating more livelihoods, reducing more textile waste, protecting our environment, and building stronger communities.

This is not the end of our journey—it is the beginning of a greater responsibility.

🌍 Say NO to Plastic Today, for a Better Tomorrow! ♻️💚

On International Plastic Bag Free Day, KMN Foundation invites everyone to make a simple change that can create a lasting impact.

Every time we choose a reusable bag over a single-use plastic bag, we help protect our rivers, oceans, wildlife, and future generations.

Through our RagBag initiative, we upcycle discarded clothes into reusable bags, giving textile waste a second life while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women from marginalised communities and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Together, we have:
🌱 Reached 20,000 households across 12 states
🛍️ Helped restrict the use of 10 million+ single-use plastic carry bags
👩‍🧵 Created livelihood opportunities for 572+ artisans
♻️ Reduced textile waste going to landfills and contributed towards lowering carbon emissions.

🌿 Carbon Exchange Festival 2026 – A Celebration of Sustainability & Community Action 🌿

On 12th April 2026, KMN Foundation was proud to be a part of the Carbon Exchange Festival at Mother Earth Foundation Boulevard, South Kolkata. The event truly reflected the spirit of Noboborsho with purpose, bringing together individuals committed to sustainability and circular living. ♻️

We are delighted to share that 155 kgs of used clothes were collected during the event—marking a significant step towards reducing textile waste and promoting circular practices.

Through our RagBag initiative, we engaged with the community by demonstrating how discarded textiles can be transformed into reusable products while creating livelihood opportunities for women from marginalised and LGBTQ+ communities.

💚 This collective effort reinforces that small actions can drive meaningful environmental and social change.

We extend our sincere thanks to the organisers and all participants for making this initiative a success. Let’s continue building a greener and more inclusive future 🌏

🌿 A Meaningful Step Towards Circular Living 🌿

We are happy to share that on 5th February 2026, our collaboration with https://www.facebook.com/PrabhatFoundation.org
led to a heartening outcome—a collection of used clothes from Kolkata and its vicinity, which were thoughtfully handed over to Karma Moksha Nirvana Foundation.

These donated clothes will now be upcycled through our RagBag initiative, where post-consumer textile waste is transformed into eco-friendly products, supporting positive climate action while creating dignified livelihoods for women and LGBTQ+ artisans from marginalized communities.

We truly appreciate Prabhat Foundation’s effort in mobilizing the community and extending a helping hand to strengthen this inclusive ecosystem. Together, we are turning everyday waste into value and building a greener, more compassionate future—one RagBag at a time. 💚♻️
