Rotary Club of East Calcutta Conducts Life-Saving Training for Bidhannagar Police:
The Rotary Club of East Calcutta, R.I. Dist. 3291, successfully conducted a hands-on training program focused on CPR, Basic Life Support, and First-aid for personnel from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate on 2nd August, 2025 at Rotary Bhawan, Beliaghata, Kolkata-10. The two-hour session, a follow-up to an extensive training held five months ago, was attended by 50 police officers.
The program was hosted in association with St. John Ambulance. The program was praised for its exceptional clarity and expert instruction, ensuring all participants gained essential life-saving skills. Officers showed enthusiastic participation and dedication during practical exercises, which were conducted with commendable focus and precision. This training is expected to significantly enhance the officers' ability to respond to emergencies and improve public safety.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Nima Norbu Bhutia, IPS, DC Traffic, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate; Mr. Jayanta Das,WBPS, ACP Traffic II, Bidhannagar Police; and Mr. Joy Shankar Ghosh, OC, Equipment, Bidhannagar Police. Mr. Bhutia thanked the Rotary Club for the initiative, highlighting the importance of the training for police personnel who operate ambulance services. He stated that the skills learned would enable them to act "properly and promptly to save the life of people in case of emergency on road."
Rtn. Swati Basu, President of the Rotary Club of East Calcutta, stressed the need to extend similar training to female police personnel. Rtn. Dr. Arnab Ray, Chair-CPR for the club, noted that the training would empower officers to work on the field with greater confidence, thereby building public trust. The club's Secretary, Rtn. Dr. Prokash Chandra Roy, suggested that similar training be organized for drivers of public transport.
The event was also attended by PP Rtn. Sarbajit Poddar, Rtn. J.P. Nandi, Rtn. Sharmistha Chakraborty and Rtn. Biswaranjan Das, underscoring the club's commitment to community welfare.
