They hatch into a world that might eat them.
A newborn komodo dragon climbs fast. Tiny claws grip bark. The ground is full of danger, so up they go.
Why run from your own kind? Because adults see a snack, not a son or daughter. It’s harsh. It’s nature. It’s survival.
High in the branches, the babies rest and watch. They eat insects and small lizards. They grow. They learn the wind and the shade.
Down below, the giants rule the trail. Up above, the little ones wait out the risky years.
One day, when they’re bigger and stronger, they climb back down. They trade leaves for dust and step into the lives they were built for.
Until then, the trees are home. The trees are safety. The trees are hope.
