Eastern Regional Headquarters was established at Patna, Bihar with six states namely Bihar, Eastern Railway, Orissa, Sikkim, South Eastern Railway and West Bengal. Later Sikkim has shifted to North Eastern Region and after bifurcation of Bihar, Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway, Jharkhand, East Central Railway and East Coast Railway was formed and added to the region. cal states Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Four Railway States -Eastern Railway, East Central Railway, East Coast Railway, South Eastern Railway are part of Eastern Region.
