Terre des Hommes Suisse recognises that access to clean water is more than a basic necessity—it is a matter of equality.

Women and girls bear the burden of walking long distances to collect water, sacrificing their time and opportunities. They should have the time to lead, learn and thrive.

Let water flow—so opportunity can too.

Mr. Ashish Ghosh, Regional Coordinator (Asia), was honoured to represent Terre des Hommes Suisse at the VAHDAM India Annual Strategy Summit 2026 on March 13.

It was an incredible experience to witness the vision of founder Mr. Bala Sarda and his dynamic team. As VAHDAM India ventures further into the tea and wellness sectors, they shared their impressive milestones and a strategic roadmap toward the 1000-crore mark.

The Teach ME segment was an inspiring space to reflect on our shared journey, exchange ideas, and reaffirm our collective commitment to making quality education accessible for every child across tea and spice growing communities.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this vision and looking forward to strengthening our collaboration to empower marginalised children of tea gardens who are often left out from the mainstream development process.

CSR Roundtable 2025 | Building Shared Vision for Sustainable Impact

On 12 December 2025, Terre des Hommes Suisse, along with its partners, hosted a CSR Roundtable at the Princeton Club, Kolkata, bringing together diverse stakeholders to co-create a shared vision for sustainable impact.

The roundtable convened 51 participants, including representatives from nine corporate houses, academicians, philanthropy consultants, and members from seven civil society organisations. The room buzzed with energy, insights, and collaboration during two thought-provoking panel discussions:

🔹 The role of CSR in advancing education for children in India
🔹 Strengthening CSR–CSO partnerships for long-term sustainability

The event showcased inspiring presentations from NGOs working at the grassroots, highlighting their deep engagement in some of the most challenging and underserved contexts—ranging from Asia’s largest red-light districts and the closed tea gardens of the Dooars to remote tribal communities in Jharkhand. These presentations offered valuable insights into on-ground realities, innovative approaches, and the transformative impact of community-led interventions.

A truly special moment was hearing from our Actors of Change—our last-mile beneficiaries—who shared powerful stories of resilience and survival. Their voices were met with heartfelt applause and reaffirmed the core of our commitment: reaching the farthest and leaving no one behind.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners, youth participants, corporate leaders, and all attendees who contributed to this meaningful dialogue and made the roundtable a success.

🤝 Together, we continue to build stronger partnerships for sustainable and lasting change.

Terre des Hommes Suisse (TdH Suisse) recently organised a week-long visit for Mr. Kamal Deep Jain, Country Manager of STMicroelectronics Foundation—India. The purpose of the visit, which covered a wide range of locations from Alipurduar's tea gardens to Kolkata's urban slums, was to monitor existing digital literacy projects in Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur and Raghunathganj, Murshidabad, as well as exploring potential new partnerships for digital literacy.
The visit fostered valuable discussions and interactions with the children and youth beneficiaries of partner organisations and their staff. These exchanges offered a deeper understanding and shared learning, aiming to create a collaborative vision for a holistic approach to quality education. This approach seeks to embed digital literacy and skills, empowering children and youth from marginalised communities to bridge the digital divide.

On 27th June 2025, Terre des Hommes Suisse and its partner organisation – Development Research Communication and Services Centre DRCSC – facilitated a visit for Her Excellency, Honourable, Madam Ambassador of the Embassy of Switzerland to India and Bhutan, to the Kolkata slum project. This is an initiative where Terre des Hommes Suisse supports over 500 children from the most marginalised communities in accessing quality education through interactive pedagogy and contextualised learning.

On June 4 and 5, 2025, Terre des Hommes Suisse, in collaboration with the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata—a unit of National Council of Science Museums, Government of India—and Merlin Group, proudly celebrated World Environment Day, placing children at the center of the event.

During this occasion, TdH Suisse officially launched its global campaign in India:
“Save My Planet, Save My Rights”—a powerful reminder that children, although the least responsible for the environmental crisis, are the first victims.

On Day One, an inspiring poster and photo exhibition on environmental protection and child rights—featuring powerful perspectives from children—was inaugurated by Ms. Tulika Das, Honourable Chairperson of the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR), along with other esteemed guests: Mr. Arnab Chatterjee, Director, BITM, Kolkata, Mr. Ardhendu Shekhar Chatterjee, Founder and President of the Development Research Communication and Services Center (DRCSC), and Mr. Surajit Niyogi, State Head, Action Aid, West Bengal.

The exhibition vividly captured children’s concerns, highlighting how climate change poses serious threats to their fundamental rights, including health, education, and protection.

A thought-provoking ‘Climate Talk’ on the Social Consequences of Climate Change brought together experts, corporate leaders, and other distinguished guests to examine the social impacts of climate change, particularly on children in India—ranging from forced migration, school dropouts and job loss to growing inequality, and violations of children's rights. It was also discussed how natural disasters, pollution, and many such events driven by climate change disrupts children's lives and hinder their ability to enjoy their rights.

Key speakers were:
Dr. Andrew Fleming, Honourable British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India
Ms. Tulika Das
Mr. Ardhendu Shekhar Chatterjee
Mr. Surajit Niyogi
Mr. Sandipan Aich, AGM- Corporate Communications and CSR, Merlin Group

The thoughtful discussion was moderated by Mr. Ashish Ghosh, Regional Coordinator, Asia, of Terre des Hommes Suisse.

A children’s workshop on environmental protection and climate change took place where 20 children participated. This was an initiative to empower them to voice their concerns and hopes through posters, slogans, and group discussions. The event was conducted by Sujoy Bhattacharya (Rural Development Association, Ghatsila) and Koushik Chowdhury (SMOKUS, Raiganj).

On the second day, an open quiz on plastic pollution sparked lively participation from children, encouraging learning through fun and engagement. Children also experienced a powerful performance by the theatrical group Danpite, who staged "Mimir Prithibi"—a play about Mimi, a young girl facing poverty and hardship, who discovers hope, freedom, and strength through nature and kindness.

The momentum continued as 200 saplings were distributed, followed by a plantation drive in the garden of BITM Kolkata—turning awareness into action.

Ms. Sarbani Bhattacharya, Vice President, Corporate Communications, Corporate Affairs, and CSR, Merlin Group, was present and addressed the children about the consequence of climate change and the importance of responsible behavior.

Nearly 150 children from seven project areas of Terre des Hommes across India came together over the two-day event—celebrating with art, dialogue, and collective action. Their voices echoed a powerful message:

Protecting the planet means protecting children’s rights.

Let’s keep raising our voices and acting—with and for the children.
