HAPEF has implemented watermelon cultivation with micro-drip irrigation support in Hiranpur block to promote technology-based, climate-resilient agriculture and improve farmersโ€™ income opportunities. This year, 15 farmers have taken up watermelon farming with technical support from HAPEF, focusing on efficient water use and reduced cultivation costs.

Farmers were supported with land preparation, raised bed cultivation, micro-drip installation, plastic mulching, and transplanting. The micro-drip system enables precise water application at the root zone, reducing wastage and ensuring uniform soil moisture.

Through micro-drip irrigation, farmers are now benefiting from:
โœ… Efficient water use
โœ… Improved plant health and uniform growth
โœ… Reduced input costs
โœ… Better yield potential and income security

Through this initiative, HAPEF continues to promote sustainable, technology-driven farming practices to make watermelon cultivation more profitable for small and marginal farmers.
