On 29.04.24, Calcutta Social Project lost Abhijay Karlekar.
He passed away silently into the night.

Abhijay Karlekar or "Jojo" as he was fondly called, was not only the son of CSP founders Kalyani & GV Karlekar, but more importantly he was the North Star of the Organisation.

He not only kept his parents legacy of the organization alive but also became the mentor that drove the organization's forward progression after the demise of his parents.
He was as much a visionary in his professional career in advertising as he was about CSP.

Jojo, Guru, Jojo da, Jojo sir, Jojo Uncle he had various monikers for various roles he played to people. He was as much a straight shooter as he was an empath across all age groups.
He was wise beyond his time and like the Magi, He was behind some crucial decisions and had a truly exemplary vision that changed the course of CSP and propelled it to become what it is today.

He was a storyteller whose stories not only live on in the films he has made but also in the ears and hearts of all of us who were his eager audience.
He had a special place in his heart for the beneficiaries of CSP who were his children, his hope, and his belief in the change we are striving to make.

He was as much a proud parent as he was a loving critic of all our children. To the staff, he was to be revered, respected, loved, and inspired.

Abhijay Karlekar was a Mentor, a friend, a father figure

A lighthouse whose light will continue to illuminate our journey throughout the dark waters of time.

Abhijay Karlekar, Thank you for the vision, Thank you for the wisdom, Thank you for the courage, Thank you for the strength. Thank you for the guidance.
May you rest in peace.

You will remain in our hearts forever

"When you learn, teach, when you get, give." - Maya Angelou

The late Kalyani Karlekar founded the "Kalyani Karlekar Shilpa Shikshalaya" - a crafts unit under the Calcutta Social Project, to empower underprivileged women with knowledge of stitching to help them become independent.

This year CSP celebrated its 50th year at G.D.Birla Sabhaghar auditorium in Kolkata. It was a celebration of the works and people of the Calcutta Social Project.

The CSP Girls Craft Centre took up this opportunity to launch their Catalogue - " Shilpo Naipunye' r Shuchipatra'. The catalogue was released by Mr. Somyo Dutta. The catalogue is a collection of products of the craft centre that has been produced after years of hard work, experimentation, material analysis, and exhibitions by the amazing bravehearts of the craft centre - the teachers and students of the centre.

The 50th-anniversary show also included speeches by Sumita Datta, teacher, and Barsha Mukherjee, Head of Craft Centre, where they spoke about the journey of their journey. It ended with members, students, and teachers of Calcutta Social Project exhibiting the products of the craft centre in the form of a fashion show.

The whole celebration was a moment of pride and a boost of confidence for the whole CSP family as everyone gathered together to embrace each other and rejuvenate to continue the journey for many more years.
