Sports build more than just strong bodies—they build character, confidence, and resilience in children. 🌟

Last Sunday, we celebrated our annual sports day with the incredible kids from our three remaining NFE schools! Despite ground challenges in their areas, the spirit was unstoppable.

The energy from Jharkali and Kalhazra Dubai Para was electric! From eager anticipation before each race to giving their absolute all to win, these children truly inspired us. 🏃‍♂️💨

A special shout-out to our dedicated teachers for their training and to the amazing mothers whose enthusiasm—especially during the back walk race—filled the day with joy. ❤️

Every child is a winner, and with plenty of prizes to motivate them, the day was a beautiful reminder of why we do this. Here’s to nurturing potential, one sport at a time! 🏆

On January 25, 2026, three NFE schools from Satyanarayan School Muslim Para and Mathurakhanda participated in sports day 🎉. The event kicked off with the National Flag hoisting 🇮🇳, followed by fun-filled activities like biscuit and banana races, flat race, math race, and more 🏃. Despite facing challenges in remote Sunderban areas, the kids gave it their all 💪. The highlight was their beaming faces when receiving prizes, sponsored by Mr. Prosenjit Das, a well-wisher of these bright kids 😊.

We are happy to inform that fruit trees like mango and jamrul have been planted in various families in the Sundarbans. These places include Chunakhali Adivasi Para, Bharatgarh No. 5 Adivasi Para, Ranigarh, Goranbose, Choradaktia, Matgaran, Godkhali and Harekrishnapur. Before durga pujo we had planted 390 fruit saplings and the remaining 110 were scheduled to be planted after Lakshmi Puja, but due to natural calamities, the planting process was delayed, We were able to plant the remaining 110 trees on October 15 - and complete our target of 500 trees for the year. Thanks for your cooperation or support to make this initiative a success.

" আমার গাছ আমার প্রাণ - গাছ লাগান দেশ বাঁচান " a green program was launched last month, led by Mr. Suryashish Gupta of Care Unlimited and Mr. Amol Nayek of Champa Mahila Society. The initiative, now on the 4th consecutive year, aimed at making the Sundarbans greener, kicked off in Chunakhali village in the Basanti block and concluded in Ranigarh village, passing through Bharatgarh. As part of the program, 150 families received and planted saplings of high-quality fruit-bearing trees like mango and jamrul. Another 150 saplings were planted over the subsequent weeks. The campaign plans to plant 500 fruit saplings in total, furthering the mission to green the Sundarbans.

🌟 Empowering Sundarban Teachers: A Transformative TLM Workshop! 🌟

A much-needed workshop was held in Shibgunj for dedicated teachers from 6 Non-Formal Education (NFE) centers and primary sections of Sarada Balika Bidya Mandir & Subodh Smriti Sadan—all shaping the minds of first-generation learners in the remote Sundarbans.

Since these teachers lack formal training, the workshop focused on modern teaching techniques, effective use of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM), and lesson planning—ensuring a lasting impact on their students' growth.

✅ 20+ teachers engaged in hands-on learning
✅ Interactive sessions on TLM & lesson planning
✅ Joyful learning activities designed for classroom replication
✅ Lesson plan templates shared for structured teaching
✅ Emphasis on regular training (at least 3x/year) for sustained growth
✅ TLM kits distributed to boost motor skills & child development

These educators are the backbone of change—equipping them means brighter futures for Sundarban’s children! 🌱

We are continuing on our constant endevour to groom the kids differently. This Monday we conducted a science workshop with the kids at Kolotan, Santoshpur (Barasat) to trigger their inquisitiveness about things around them. The smaller kids learning about density and the kids of upper class learning about how to increase the strength of items around them. They made bridges with paper and tested its load bearing capacity. It was fun to see the kids engrosed in activities.

We are slowly proceeding with the steps to provide holistic education. A humble first step was to organize sports for each of the 6 NFEs. The parents support has been crtical to the success of the NFEs, so we organied the sports locally involving parents. Ensured there are enough fun events (6 for the kids and 1 for the parents) to make the day memorable; and enough gifts so that all can cherish.

The two new Non-formal-education (NFE) centers started late last year is going on full swing. When we visited the two NFEs at Kalahazra, we were very happy to see the educational charts being used, and worksheets provided being used by the students. As always it was a pleasure to interact with the kids from these schools, and it was clear that the schools are having an impact in the remote tribal areas of Sonakhali.

🌱✨ Growing Hope, One Tree at a Time ✨🌱

Our environment is changing, and so are the rhythms of nature. This year’s plantation project in Basirhat, North 24 Parganas, was a reminder of this reality. 🌾

Farmers shared that conditions for plantation, which usually align with July, weren’t favorable until December this year. Trusting their wisdom, we adjusted and successfully planted 100+ mango trees as part of our Backyard Family Fruit Tree Project. 🥭🌳
