A passionate and committed group of 100 citizens came together to provide relief to the cyclone affected people in Sundarbans and parts of South Bengal. The Group managed to reach out to the Cyclone and flood affected areas such as Hingalganj, Gosaba, Basanti, Palien, Patharpratima, Sandeshkhali, Chintamanipur, Sagar Island etc. We contributed to Bharat Sevashram for their community kitchen which
served the Cyclone victims. Overall, 1000 plus families were provided with relief materials including Dry ration, food items, medicine, mask, sanitizers, alum, beaching powder, old clothes etc. We took up this project under the project name “BENGAL NEEDS YOU”. Members personally visited the affected areas and interacted with the villagers and committed long term support. Further, We took up the cause of plantation in July/August as we worked with a local NGO and distributed saplings to the villagers in Pailen village, Gosaba. This is a village where about 200 families reside belonging to the tribal Orang community. Through the community, we planted 400 plants including jackfruit and Mahogony. The community has taken ownership of maintaining the plants and ensure they turn into tree in a few years time. Ananta Seva also conduct regular webinars for the members and the community on heal issues through reputed Doctors under a tie up with Dr Reddy’s Foundation. We plan to work in the areas of Livelihood generation, Rural Development, Education, Health, Environment and propose to build shelter for orphans and Old aged people going forward.
