🌿 Kishalay Organics | Growing Sustainably, Empowering Farmers 🌱
On 2nd October (Gandhi Jayanti) Kishalay Organics welcomed
Dr. Shamik Dey from the Department of , JIS University, Kolkata to Kamardanga village, , , for an interactive session with local farmers involved in organic farming. Dr. Dey's research area being Entomology was particularly helpful for the farmers community to understand how they could protect their crops from harmful insects and pests and enhance production.

The visit explored traditional and sustainable farming practices, including:

🌱 "Jeevamrit" preparation and neem-based pest management
🥬 Indigenous vegetable cultivation and seed preservation
🐓 Indigenous poultry and duck rearing
🐟 Fish and Crab farming
♻️ Organic composting and a pilot project on cucumber cultivation

Visits to farmers’ homes offered valuable insights into their farming practices and the potential to combine traditional knowledge with scientific expertise. Glimpses of the said visit are shared.

We have encouraged and supported local farmers in Godkhali to adopt biofertilisers and biopesticides for cucumber cultivation, replacing harmful chemicals and promoting sustainable agriculture. Through awareness initiatives on organic farming, we aim to protect soil health, reduce the use of harmful pesticides, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier .
We are also encouraging women’s groups and local communities to adopt organic farming practices and cultivate organic vegetables, thereby promoting sustainable and supporting healthier, environmentally friendly livelihoods.
