Happy Lane 2026 | A Glimpse
Happy Lane was joyfully celebrated on Sunday, 18th January 2026. As always, parents came together to plan and create the decorations, adding warmth and a strong sense of community to the event.
Children performed an awareness drama on neurodiversity, taught by Madhurima and Suroj, with the script written by Madhurima. The performance was well received and warmly appreciated by the audience. Many visitors shared that this year’s carnival felt more organized, with a better footfall than previous years.
The chief guest, Anirban Bhattacharya, appreciated Shumpun’s long-term commitment to therapeutic work, especially programmes that require patience and resilience rather than instant results. He also expressed happiness that Madhurima could use her formal training in drama for marginalized children and children with special needs.
Sreya Pande, daughter of late MLA Sadhan Pandey, visited the programme and showed interest in knowing more about Shumpun’s work. The local police station supported the event by providing a small task force, helping everything run smoothly.
Children from the neighbourhood and Shumpun performed dances, while members of Thanal and their children also participated with dance recitals. Two graduated former Shumpun students played active roles, one anchoring the programme and the other supporting children on stage.
The carnival featured a lively game zone, an art workshop using natural colours, fourteen food and goods stalls, and a musical skit by Shumpun parents.
Overall, Happy Lane 2026 was a colourful, inclusive, and successful celebration filled with joy and togetherness.
