I never planned it all, but I always dreamt of creating a safe space for girls from vulnerable backgrounds a place where they would feel free, seen, heard, and truly valued.

A place where they can wear what they want without the fear of bad touch!
A place where they can eat without the smell of smoke and addiction around them!
A place where they can laugh loudly without the noise of slurs and abuse!
And most importantly, a place where they can finally breathe life with dignity, safety, and joy…

Nothing feels more fulfilling than watching this dream turn into a home, a hope, and a future.

We all have a few days in life when we pinch ourselves just to believe is this real or am I dreaming? Today was one such day for Ramdhanu, for me, and most importantly, for my children!!

A car with a blue number plate stopped in front of the gates of Ramdhanu Bari… and out stepped the German Consul General Barbara Voss, to visit our little home.

She didn’t just visit, she stayed for almost two hours. She listened to our stories, encouraged the children to study, watched them paint, and even celebrated Neha’s birthday with us.

And as if this beautiful moment wasn’t enough, she also donated to help us start a stitching unit at Kolkata’s Ramdhanu Bari, opening new doors of dignity and livelihood for the young adults.

Moments like these feel unreal… yet they happen so gently, so beautifully. A reminder to our children that dreams do travel long distances and sometimes, they arrive right at your doorstep.

I dream that every place I pass through is filled with love and laughter. I wanted to create a safe space where dignity is protected, the way a mother protects her child. That’s why the door my children walk through at Ramdhanu Bari is called the Dignity Door… because every child deserves to enter with pride and leave with hope.

People often ask me why I work more with girls, especially street children. Because on the streets, a girl’s vulnerability begins the moment the sun sets. She is not just fighting poverty ,she is fighting fear, abuse, trafficking, early marriage, and the constant risk of losing her dignity.

Yes, I believe boys and girls are equal. But the harsh truth is they are not equally safe. A boy sleeps on the pavement; a girl survives it.

When you protect a girl, you don’t just save one child you protect her dreams, her future, and often an entire generation.

This is not about choosing girls over boys. This is about standing beside those who need protection the most. Because equality starts when the most vulnerable feel safe. 🌼❤️
