Another Dream Gets an Address

Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis is proud to celebrate another meaningful milestone — the completion of our 4th house this Rotary year under the House Challenge initiative.

The new home also marks an important milestone for the larger initiative — the 223rd house completed through House Challenge, a movement that continues to bring the security and dignity of a home to deserving families.

Making this possible for Metropolis was the generous support of Rtn. Kurian Jose and his wife, Reema Kurian. For Kurian and Reema, supporting this cause is not a one-time gesture. Having contributed to the House Challenge initiative on multiple occasions in the past, they have once again stepped forward to help another family realise the dream of a home of their own.

The keys to the newly completed home were handed over to Mumthaz Shiyas and family at a ceremony held at the KCBC Hope Centre, Thoppumpady, in the presence of Rotary Metropolis President Rtn. Sudeep Z. Zachariah, Rtn. Kurian Jose and representatives of the House Challenge initiative.

The occasion was also covered by Mathrubhumi and Metro7 – Kerala Vision Channel

“You can check out anytime you like… but you can never leave!”

The Eagles may have made the line famous, but we’re beginning to suspect they were actually talking about Rotary Cochin Metropolis!

Yesterday was a particularly happy evening for us as our former member Adv. Kumar along with his wife Jyothi returned to the Metropolis family after having stepped away in 2020 for personal reasons.

Some friendships, it seems, don’t really come with an expiry date. And at Metropolis, once you’ve been part of the flock, there’s always a place waiting for you when you find your way back home.

So when Kumar & Jyothi decided it was time to return, there was only one possible response from Metropolis:

WELCOME BACK! We missed you!

And naturally, being Metropolis, a simple welcome would never do.

Their homecoming coincided perfectly with the FSG 2 Dinner hosted by Joe & the Exotic Birdies — and with a Dandiya theme, no less!

Good food, colourful outfits, plenty of laughter, enthusiastic Dandiya moves of varying levels of accuracy … and most importantly, the joy of welcoming old friends back into the family.

So perhaps The Eagles got one thing right after all - You may check out for a while, but the road somehow always leads back to Metropolis.

Welcome home, Kumar & Jyothi!

Rotary Connections Across Continents

The spirit of Rotary knows no borders!

Our International Representative, Rtn. Bright Puthenparambil, visited the Rotary Club of Sunnyvale, California, USA, this week, carrying with him the spirit and story of the Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis.

The visit was particularly special as the Rotary Club of Sunnyvale celebrates its centenary in 2026, marking 100 years of service since its charter on March 31, 1926.

During the interaction, Rtn. Bright shared insights into the impact of Rotary in India, particularly in Kerala, and highlighted some of the ongoing projects, charitable initiatives and community work undertaken by Cochin Metropolis.

It was a warm and enriching exchange of ideas, fellowship and the common Rotary commitment to Service Above Self. We hope this interaction opens the door to greater friendship, collaboration and perhaps even joint initiatives between Sunnyvale and Cochin Metropolis in the years ahead.

Thank you, Bright, for taking time out to represent Metropolis and spread the spirit of Rotary amongst our fellow Rotarians across the globe!

Different places. Same purpose. Stronger connections. Greater impact.

The Art of Carrying Yourself
An engaging and insightful Speaker Night at Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis with Mr. Faraz Babu, Image Consultant and Founder & CEO of Saji & Faraz Grooming Lounge Pvt. Ltd.

Faraz took our Metroites through “The Art of Carrying Yourself” — a lively session on personal image, grooming, style and the importance of presenting yourself with confidence, because how you carry yourself matters at every age!

With his extensive experience in fashion and personal styling, Faraz brought plenty of practical insights, interesting perspectives and engaging conversation to the evening.

Held at Taj Vivanta on Friday, 18th September, the evening saw a wonderful turnout from our Metroites, making it yet another enjoyable and enriching fellowship evening. Great conversations, good fellowship and a few style lessons to take home!

And judging by the impressive turnout of our male Rotarians, it seems quite a few were keen to pick up a tip or two on how to sharpen their style and impress the ladies!

A big thank you to Faraz Babu for spending the evening with us and sharing his expertise and passion.

Because style may change with age… but carrying yourself well never goes out of fashion!
