Who We Are
Belong Foundation is a group of enthusiastic individuals with an urge to nurture the society by empowering community’s most precious resource: The Children
Our Volunteer profile ranges from the academic students to the working p
rofessionals from vivid domains, who primarily team up as social teachers every weekend at our Centre in Ernakulum district. Our team of dedicated teachers, compassionate mentors and amazing volunteers play a vital role in upbringing kids from underprivileged communities. We believe in imparting knowledge through academics, good values and morals to be able to live in the evolving society. And this stepping stone will eventually turn a child’s dream into Reality. How We Do It
“Serving the society is the best expression of humanity”
The four teams of Belong -PR, HR, Events and Teaching together aim at realizing our goals for the community. The PR vertical manages public relation so as to maintain a strong rapport with the audience and also ensure maximum reach. The HR vertical functions as the supporting link between the verticals, coordinates the activities of the volunteers and also systematically does the recruitment. The Events vertical organises workshops, camps, sessions and other programs for both parents and children as part of community welfare. The teaching vertical systematically conducts the weekend classes - they ensure that the kids learn, understand and also enjoy the experience of knowledge sharing. It is always the extra mile our volunteers have walked, the extra effort they took that has ultimately brought laurels to our family. Milestone 2014
This organisation began in 2014 with a dream of a few youngsters to change the way children learn today. We started our journey in 2014 with a camp which turned out to be successful beyond our expectations. 120 children from underprivileged families and 25 volunteers interacted to set the ball rolling for a community education centre in Vypin. The rest, as they say, is history. Classes began in Puthuvype for school students, which was blessed by Prof KV Thomas Minister from consumer, Ms. Beena Sebastian(Founder, Cultural Academy for Peace, Kochi) and Puthuvype Panchayath Members. Our work went ahead, we started classes in a small government school to improve children’s academic and extracurricular performance. We also organised counselling sessions, health camps and other events. We celebrated festivals like Onam and Christmas, also showcased our work through flash mobs and get-together’s. We celebrated our bond, as volunteers working for a common goal; empowering young dreamers. We stoked children’s desires to do more for themselves and the world they lived in through small initiatives like a clean-up drive at Marine drive and a guidance session by one of our beloved teachers, Ms Gracy Joseph who is the ex-principal of SRV School and the current council member of Kochi Municipal Corporation. Our efforts didn’t get unnoticed, we were honoured at the Youth Campaign by YMCA’s (Ernakulum) "Yuva Nanma, Nalla Naleke" for our efforts aimed at child empowerment through community development. This drove us to do more, work more, for which we worked in partnership with YMCA, SPC and UniY. We were the social partners for Kerala's first full marathon, the Spice Coast Marathon, organised by Soles Cochin and for Zeitgeist National Management Meet conducted by the students of SNGIST. We also published our first Newsletter, The Banyan Tree should share to our work.
