Dr. Moopen’s Foundation,the non-profit charitable and philanthropic arm of Aster DM Healthcare, the leading healthcare conglomerate in the Middle East and India, has been conceived by the visionary Dr. Azad Moopen, a physician turned entrepreneur. ut, through different vehicles- DM Foundation, Dr Moopen’s Family Foundation and Naseera& Moopen Foundation. Instead of adhering to conventional CSR initiatives like donating to fundraising campaigns, DM Foundation adopts a holistic and noble approach and undertakes wide-ranging activities from educational scholarships and empowering women to adopting a whole village. Reaching out to the needy through diverse programmes, DM Foundation has initiated a range of activities under the motto ‘Healing Touch’. Some of the ongoing activities of the Foundation include the establishment of Community Dialysis Centres, Cancer Radiation Centres, Early Cancer Detection Centres, Free Paediatric and Adult Cardiac Surgeries, establishment of Special Needs Schools, etc. The Foundation and Charities work in tandem with sister organizations like MIMS Charitable Trust and Social Advancement Foundation of India and in association with Non-Governmental Organizations.

The Smile of a Brighter Tomorrow

As part of the Bright Beginning Initiative, Aster DM Foundation distributed educational support materials to students of Government Tribal Welfare L.P. School, Thekkady, Parambikulam.
With the valuable support of the Forest Department, the team was able to reach this remote tribal community and provide high quality school bags, water bottles, and umbrellas to the children.

Threads of Hope: A Journey Towards Self-Reliance

Under Aster DM Foundation’s livelihood support initiative, we extended assistance to Mrs. Bindu Mol from Kodakkara, Thrissur.

A widow and sole breadwinner, Mrs. Bindu Mol supports her family and funds her two children's education through garment stitching. To strengthen her livelihood, we provided a new sewing machine along with nighty cloth materials.

A little heart, a brave fight, and a hopeful tomorrow ❤️

Baby Nyha Zairin, an 11-month-old child from Muvattupuzha, successfully underwent congenital heart surgery at Aster Medcity.

The child lives with her parents and brother in a financially challenged household, where her father, a painter, is the sole breadwinner.

In view of the family’s socio-economic hardships, the Aster DM Foundation, through the Aster Allana Initiative, extended financial assistance to support the child’s treatment and recovery journey.

Bright Beginning Initiative – Continuing the Journey Towards Brighter Futures

As part of the continuing Bright Beginning Initiative of Aster DM Foundation, educational support materials were distributed to 63 children from palliative care and cancer-affected families in association with Peace Valley.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. K. G. Radhakrishnan, President, Ernakulam District Panchayat

The initiative aimed to support children in their educational journey by providing essential school materials, including high-quality school bags, water bottles, and umbrellas.

Every child deserves care, confidence, and a Bright beginning on school reopening !!!

The Bright Beginning Initiative was organized by the Aster DM Foundation in association with the Association of Charitable and Cultural Organization of Kerala (ACCOK) Cherthala with the aim of extending care and support to children from vulnerable families through meaningful social responsibility interventions.

As part of the programme, 75 high-quality school bags, water bottles, and umbrellas were distributed to children from blind, deaf, and bedridden patient families,helping them begin their academic journey with hope, dignity, and encouragement.

Baby Rudra, a 5-year-old from Mynagapally, Kollam district, was admitted at Aster Medcity for the treatment of congenital heart disease and successfully underwent VSD device closure.

The baby resides with her parents and grandparents in a single-storied concrete house. Her father, a painter by profession, is the sole earning member of the family and has been struggling to manage the treatment and daily household expenses.

Considering the family’s difficult financial condition, the Aster DM Foundation, through the Heart to Heart Initiative, extended financial assistance towards the child’s treatment, bringing relief, strength, and renewed hope to the family.

Facing a difficult phase in life, Mr. Ubaid H, a 32-year-old resident of Kallepully, Palakkad district, was admitted at Aster Medcity for kidney transplantation and underwent successful surgical management.

He lives with his parents and was supporting the family as a photographer. Due to his illness and treatment, he is currently unable to work, and the family is relying on the support of relatives and friends.

Recognizing the financial and emotional challenges faced by the family, the Aster DM Foundation, through the Aster Allana Initiative, extended timely support towards the treatment expenses, offering relief and hope during this critical period.

Aster Volunteers & Peace Vally Brings Super Speciality Care to Vellaram Kuthu Tribal Hamlet

Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services (AVMMS) Kochi successfully conducted a Super Speciality Medical Camp for the Vellaram Kuthu Tribal Community, demonstrating the critical impact of external volunteerism in bridging healthcare gaps in underserved regions.

The camp was led by senior external medical volunteers: Dr. Abdul Salaam, Associate Professor of Cardiology, Government Medical College, Thrissur, and Dr. Shaira, Associate Professor of ENT, Government TD Medical College, Alappuzha. Their leadership was supported by 5 junior doctors from Government TD Medical College, Alappuzha, who extended their expertise and service to the community.

Key Services Delivered:

- Free ECG screening for cardiac evaluation
- Blood sugar and blood pressure diagnostics
- Free distribution of essential medicines
- Specialist consultations in Cardiology and ENT

The initiative directly benefitted the tribal population of Vellaram Kuthu, who often face geographical and logistical barriers to accessing super speciality care.

This camp underscores the invaluable role of external volunteers in public health delivery. The willingness of senior faculty and junior doctors from Government Medical Colleges to dedicate their time and expertise beyond institutional mandates was instrumental to the program’s success. Such collaborations between corporate social initiatives like Aster Volunteers and external medical professionals amplify reach, enhance credibility, and ensure quality care for Kerala’s most remote communities.

Mr. Ibrahim K, a 57-year-old resident of Mattanchery, Ernakulam district, after he was diagnosed with oral cancer and admitted at Aster Medcity for surgical management.

He lives with his wife and son in a rental home. With his son working as a salesman and earning only a modest income, the family found it difficult to cope with the financial strain caused by the treatment.

Recognizing their genuine hardship, the Aster DM Foundation, through the Aster Allana Initiative, extended meaningful support towards the medical expenses, along with a hospital discount from Aster Medcity, bringing relief and hope to the family during this difficult period.
