In 1917, Rotary President Arch C. Klumph proposed creating an endowment dedicated "for the purpose of doing good in the world." What began with a $26.50 donation from the Rotary Club of Kansas City would grow into The Rotary Foundation—one of the world's leading charitable foundations, empowering Rotarians to create lasting change through humanitarian projects, education, disease prevention, peacebuilding, and community development.

🎥 Featured in this post is a rare silent historical video of Arch C. Klumph at the 1917 Rotary Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, marking a pivotal moment in Rotary's history.

📘 Know Rotary | Episode 10 (END OF Season 1 ) | Paul Harris' Vision: The Dream That Changed the World
Every great movement begins with a simple idea.

When Paul P. Harris moved to Chicago, he found himself in a rapidly growing city—but without the close friendships and strong sense of community he had always valued.

He believed that people from different professions could come together not only for business, but to build friendship, trust, ethical leadership, and service.

On 23 February 1905, that vision became reality when four professionals met for the first Rotary gathering.

What started as a small circle of friends has grown into Rotary International—a global family of 1.4 million+ members across 200+ countries and geographical areas, united by one timeless ideal:

Service Above Self.

As Rotary Cochin Cosmos celebrates 10 Years of Service Above Self, we honour the vision that continues to inspire friendship, fellowship, integrity, and meaningful service around the world.
