It was a special moment at the ICDCN 2026 Town Hall when we formally announced the launch of the International Society for Distributed Computing and Networking (ISDCN) - a dedicated global platform to advance research, education, and community-building across distributed systems and computer networking. With its roots tracing back to 1999 as the International Workshop on Distributed Computing and its evolution into ICDCN in 2006, this new society marks an important milestone in strengthening the long-term sustainability and impact of our community.
ISDCN is founded with a clear mission: to nurture high-quality research in computer science, foster digital transformation, and create deeper engagement across academia, industry, government, and global research collaborators. The society aims to broaden opportunities for knowledge exchange, support emerging areas of strategic relevance, and further enhance Indiaโs role in shaping the future of distributed computing and networking.
We are pleased to announce the inaugural Executive Committee of ISDCN: Sandip Chakraborty (President, IIT Kharagpur), R. K. Shyamasundar (Vice President, IIT Bombay), Sourav Kanti Addya, (Secretary, NITK Surathkal), Hari Prabhat Gupta, (Joint Secretary, IIT BHU Varanasi), Punyasha Chatterjee (Treasurer, Jadavpur University), Suchetana Chakraborty (Joint Treasurer, IIT Jodhpur), Pushparaj Shetty D. (Member, NIT Karnataka), Yogesh Simmhan (Member, IISc Bangalore), Sathya Peri (Member, IIT Hyderabad), and John Augustine (Member, IIT Madras). Their collective leadership will guide the society in its formative years as we shape new initiatives, partnerships, and academic activities.
ISDCN will serve as the umbrella organization for ICDCN - now officially its annual flagship event - while also supporting new workshops, collaborations, and community-driven programs in the years ahead. We look forward to building a vibrant, inclusive, and globally connected ecosystem together.
