Sweet Success Through Apiculture

The Apiculture & Honey Processing Programme implemented by KARD with the support of NABARD is steadily transforming the lives of rural farmers. NABARD Assistant Manager Ms. Prajakta and AGM–DD Kollam, Ms. Rakhimol J., visited the KARD Head Office at Kalluvathukkal and reviewed the ongoing programme. They also visited the fields of beneficiary bee farmers, assessed the progress of the initiative, and interacted directly with them.
They visited the fields of Bee Farmers such as Noushad, Chacko, Sudhakarakurup, Vasudevan, and Thomas Kutty have successfully adopted scientific beekeeping practices by installing beehives and actively engaging in honey extraction. With consistent effort and proper training, they are now an average of 20–25 kg honey per each harvesting .
This initiative has not only created an additional source of income but has also empowered farmers with sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Kerala Association for Rural Development - KARD in association with the World Malayalee Women’s Council Kollam Chapter celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 at KARD Skill Academy, Kadakkal. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ajitha, Associate Professor, University of Kerala. The event was presided over by Sheeja Santhosh, President of WMC Kollam Chapter, and Dr. Nadakkal Sasi delivered the keynote address. The celebration featured a Women’s Day pledge, cultural programmes by students, prize distribution, and concluded with a traditional sadhya, making the event vibrant and memorable.
