In a democracy, everyone has the right to protest, and dissent is an important part of our system. But there is a fine line between protest and shameful acts. What NSUI did in the name of protesting against NCERT is not just unacceptable, it is deeply disrespectful. Burning books, kicking them, and insulting Vidhya (knowledge) is not protest, it is an attack on our culture and values.
History reminds us of the dark times when Bakhtiyar Khilji burned libraries and destroyed priceless knowledge. Sadly, today NSUI has repeated the same act by disrespecting books in broad daylight. If you disagree, debate. If you want change, raise your voice. But to set fire to books the very source of knowledge is an insult not only to education but also to the spirit of democracy itself.
Is this the culture NSUI wants to promote? Protest, yes. But never by insulting the very foundation of learning.
