In this context, the issue of women remains a major developmental concern. It is in fact one of the main challenges in our society nowadays, where all human development reports in the region unearthed a close correlation between overall growth and women’s advancement. Besides, the target groups, which were adopted by Gramin, brought forward the said issue and placed it as one of the top priorities. It should be however noted that despite Gramin momentum, the issue of women and gender equality ought to be given more attention. In this respect, Gramin’s strategy can encompass projects that address this topic in an independent manner that goes in line with this developmental challenge. In fact, this issue is not being addressed out of gender-based prejudice or intellectual opulence; rather, it finds root in human and legal requirements for tackling severe accumulated historical distortions at the social and political levels. So far, Gramin’s work at the grassroots level on a variety of social issues like mainly focusing on Art & craft as well as empowering women, but simultaneously it giving priority on education, equal rights, rural health, natural resource management (agriculture/environment/water), social interaction and rural development etc. and have already positively impacted the lives of thousands of people living in socially deprived circumstances, many women have been helped by programs defending equal rights, many children of all ages have had chances to develop through literacy programs and other educational activities, many lives have been improved by well-developed health and awareness programs, our ongoing investment in our program will enable us to effectively and positively keep on impacting the lives of many of most disadvantaged people. We are however conscious of it and are on that point of the learning curve where with little effort we shall be able to scale up initiatives to levels where we can begin to gain results fairly soon. Thus Gramin has been extremely useful in experimenting in the field of development support in the rural context. The vision statement of it still holds, and continues to guide our involvement and programming. In line with the vision statement is the Mission Statement which we used to modify a little gradually to make it more inclusive to partnerships between different partners and thereby going beyond just a focus as has been the case so far.
