fb post from our DG Dhinesh Babu sir:
After five days of stepping away from Rotary activities due to the sudden demise of DLF Muthu Annachi, I resumed my journey with renewed purpose for the Governor’s Official Visit (GOV) to RC of Karaikudi. 🙏
This prestigious 75-year-old club, founded through the noble initiative of Vallal Azhagappar, follows a beautiful tradition — beginning the Governor’s visit at 7:45 AM at the sacred Pillayarpatti Temple. ⛩️
True to this tradition, the President, Secretary, and several senior Rotarians including PDG Perianan warmly received us near the temple. 🤝
We had a special darshan, seeking blessings for Rotary service, followed by a delightful breakfast at the temple office. ☕🍽️
Our next destination was a remarkable heritage museum owned by Rtn. Lakshmanan of Karaikudi. 🚗📷
The museum houses vintage cars, antique cameras, and classic music record players, and what makes it extraordinary is that every single piece is still in working condition. 🎶
A tree was planted there to commemorate my visit, symbolizing Rotary’s commitment to sustainability and legacy. 🌱
We then visited the Urban Public Health Centre, where the club donated essential medical equipment to the duty Medical Officer, strengthening the healthcare support for the community. 🏥⚕️
The next stop was a Government Primary School, where the club had sponsored chair-benches for the entire classroom. 🪑📚
The pure happiness and excitement on the faces of the children was truly priceless. 😊
The club further distributed files, pouches with writing materials, empowering the students with tools for learning. ✏️📁
Leaving the school, my heart was filled with immense satisfaction and pride in Rotary service. ❤️
Our journey continued to the Government TB Sanatorium, where essential medical equipment was handed over to the duty Medical Officer. 🏥
The hospital spreads across vast acres and serves numerous patients, yet the reality is heartbreaking — only one Medical Officer manages the entire facility. This visit reminded us of how crucial Rotary’s support is to public healthcare. 🙏
Next, we visited a Boys’ Home that provides shelter for persons with mental illness. 🏠
The campus was exceptionally clean, peaceful, and well maintained. The club had sponsored lunch for all the inmates, a touching act of compassion and dignity. 🍲❤️
We then proceeded to the RC of Karaikudi Hall for the most important segment of the visit — the Club Assembly. 📋
For nearly one and a half hours, we had meaningful and constructive discussions, carefully reviewing the club’s records and activities.
I highly appreciated the meticulous documentation maintained by this historic 75-year-old club. 👏
Constructive suggestions were offered, and the club committed to starting a Community-Based Rotaract Club and launching a signature Public Image project to commemorate their 75-year milestone. 🎉🌍
After enjoying a sumptuous lunch, we moved to the next impactful service project. 🍽️
President Rtn. Loganathan had personally sponsored and laid paver block flooring in a 100-year-old girls’ school. 🏫
This thoughtful project will greatly benefit the students, enabling school assemblies and other activities to be conducted comfortably and safely. 👧✨
Hats off to President Loganathan for this generous and meaningful contribution! 👏
In the evening General Club Meeting, a large gathering of club members and visiting Rotarians created a vibrant Rotary atmosphere. 🤝
During the meeting, President Loganathan proudly handed over a cheque of USD 5,000 (₹4,55,000) towards The Rotary Foundation — a powerful commitment to Doing Good in the World. 💙🌍
It was truly a day filled with service, compassion, fellowship, and impact.
A Governor’s Official Visit that reflected the true spirit of Rotary — Service Above Self. ✨🙏
