Sometimes, change begins with a small voice… and slowly, that voice turns into a movement.

“Waqt Ki Awaaz” Community Radio Station, run by Shramik Bharti, has been continuously working to raise awareness against domestic violence through its program “HINSA KO NO.” Recently, this initiative witnessed a moment where emotions spoke louder than words.

Archana Kapoor, Director of SMART Organization, visited with her team and, along with Radio Station Head Radha Shukla, connected directly with around 80 rural women. It was not just a discussion, but a safe space where women felt comfortable opening up and sharing their experiences.

They spoke about difficult realities—domestic violence, marital r**e, sexual harassment, and child abuse. Some stories were hard to hear, reminding us of the silent struggles many women continue to face.
Yet, amidst the pain, what stood out was their strength. The strength to speak, to share, and to support one another.

For the past three years, the consistent efforts of “Waqt Ki Awaaz” and SMART Organization have helped communities better understand how to prevent domestic violence and support those affected. Today, this work is bringing visible positive change in nearby villages.

This experience reinforced a powerful truth—when women stand together, become each other’s voice, and support one another, they don’t just transform their own lives, they begin to transform society.

Special thanks to Archana Kapoor for her guidance, dedication, and for being a constant source of strength behind this impactful initiative.

From Ground Efforts to Real Change-

Shiksha Plus, a joint initiative by the Shramik Bharti and the Shiv Nadar Foundation, is quietly creating change at the grassroots level in Rasulabad block of Kanpur Dehat.
In villages where life is already full of challenges, convincing people to take out time for education is not always easy. But our ground team has been putting in continuous effort—meeting people, understanding their realities, and patiently encouraging them to take that first step towards learning.
With regular visits and strong community connection, these efforts are slowly turning into visible results.

To take this work forward, a 7-day volunteer training was organized where 37 male and female volunteers came forward and got trained as Jan Shikshaks. They will now go back to their villages and help others learn to read and write, making education more accessible at the local level.

During the training, Project Manager Sadhana Ghosh and founder Ganesh Pandey motivated the volunteers and appreciated their willingness to contribute. Their words reminded everyone that even small efforts on the ground can make a real difference in someone’s life.

It’s a simple effort, but one that is steadily helping brings confidence, awareness, and change in the community.

Building Bridges, Bridging Fear to Freedom: Kot Budha’s Story-

Waves of relief and pure joy filled  Kot Budha village (Tarn Taran) as two vital bridges were proudly inaugurated by the community. What was once an everyday struggle has now transformed into a powerful story of resilience, unity, and collective action.

For years, a flood-prone drain created constant challenges for farmers. Reaching their own fields meant long detours or unsafe crossings through water—impacting not just convenience, but also their time, income, and safety. But instead of waiting for change, the community chose to act. With the initiative and support of Shramik Bharti and PwC India Foundation, the village came together to turn a shared vision into reality. The journey, which was also shared earlier on social media, reflected not just the building of bridges but the strengthening of trust and unity within the village.

What makes this achievement truly special is the spirit of the people. Nearly 80 farming families contributed their time, effort, and belief in a common goal. Guided by the committed leadership of Sukhwant Singh and supported by dedicated community members—Nihal Singh, Partap Singh, Baljit Singh, Jarnal Singh, Chananpreet Singh, Rashpal Singh, Pargat Singh, Sabb Singh, and Raj Singh—this initiative became more than construction; it became a movement.  Led on the ground by our Punjab team, Varinder Pal Singh and Prabhjeet Kaur, whose dedication and constant support helped shape this journey, the bridges now stand as a symbol of what collective determination can achieve.

Today, these bridges provide safe and direct access to over 400 acres of farmland—reducing time, cost, and risk for farmers. But beyond the physical structure, they represent something far greater: trust, unity, and the power of community.

To every hero of Kot Budha—thank you. You’ve shown what true unity can accomplish.
Shramik Bharti is deeply proud and grateful. Together, we win. 🤝❣️

Stories like these truly make the impact feel real ❣️

The Mehak Self-Help Group from Jindra village has done something remarkable. With support from the Hriday–LICHFL initiative over the past few years, they’ve grown into one of the Top 5 SHGs in Moga—an achievement that reflects their dedication and collective strength.

Their excellent work in producing Phulkari suits and jute bags has not only strengthened their livelihoods but also showcased their skills and entrepreneurship.

Being recognised by the Deputy Commissioner and ADC, along with a ₹10,000 token of appreciation, is a proud moment for everyone involved.

As the implementing partner on the ground, we at Shramik Bharti feel truly grateful to support and witness such journeys of growth, confidence, and empowerment within the community.

It’s inspiring to see how the right support and collective effort can create lasting change at the grassroots level. 🌱

🌱 Sowing Awareness, Growing Sustainability 🌱

From the fields of Jind, Haryana, Manbir Singh Redu is quietly transforming the way farmers see their land. With a deep respect for soil health and nature’s balance, he reminds us that every insect in the field has a role to play—many as protectors rather than destroyers. Through his workshops in Kot Budha, Jalloke, Bhowall, and Parle Jalloke, he is empowering farmers with knowledge: how to identify insects, understand their purpose, and nurture crops using natural, organic methods.

His work is a powerful example of how awareness and wisdom can restore harmony between farming and nature. At Shramik Bharti, we celebrate such changemakers who are sowing not just crops, but consciousness for a sustainable future. 🌾

🌱 Education for All: Empowering Lives Through Learning

Education is the foundation of any society, and true development becomes possible only when it reaches people of all age groups. With this vision, the Shiv Nadar Foundation has introduced a transformative initiative in adult education through its Shiksha Plus Project.

At the grassroots level, this mission is being successfully implemented in Rasoolabad block of Kanpur Dehat By Shramik Bharti, ensuring that the light of education reaches underserved communities.

✨ Impact in just 1.5 years:

Around 7,000 individuals made literate

People who once couldn’t write their names can now read and write confidently & Improved ability to handle banking, mobile usage, and government services

📚 What makes this initiative unique is its innovative learning approach:-

•Use of projector-based teaching
•Focus on local language and real-life examples
•Learning made simple, engaging, and practical

This initiative goes beyond literacy—it is building confidence, awareness, and empowerment. Today, these newly literate individuals are more aware of their rights and are actively participating in society.

💡 Because when education reaches everyone, transformation becomes inevitable.
