Save Wildlife and Wilderness of India (SWWI)

Save Wildlife and Wilderness of India (SWWI) The information available on the subject was scattered in various publications, mostly in the form of incidental observations. It was formed in september 2012.

Save wild & wilderness of India (SWWI) is a non- profit membership – driven organization committed to urgent action to prevent destruction of Indian wildlife and wilderness The idea of this website grew in Suma’s mind for conservation of the endangered wildlife and the wilderness ( habitat or let say the Biodiversity as whole ) of India, which is difficult and expensive to carry out at the best

of times, was only in its infancy in the Indian region. At the same time, valuable as these 'unintentional' notes were, it was clear that many of them were being lost to science. People such were forest dwellers and tribal’s encountering wild flora fauna on land and people such were fishermen and sailors were encountering marine flora and fauna but their knowledge was not being passed on to the larger community. But the wildlife of India ( Flora and Fauna as well as their habitat ) face threats to their existence everywhere, and there seems to be no reason to think why the situation should be otherwise in the land and seas around India. Every piece of information is important in offering them protection. In this age of electronic communications, a Web site was the obvious means of sharing knowledge. Thus was born the idea of this site and the trust. Suma is a naturalists with a keen interest in nature conservation, and she lives in Kerala, Southern India. She teamed with Faisal, who a businessman , Ragavan and prashanth all are also naturalists and lives in Kerala, Southern India and formed a Trust named Save wild and wilderness of India , is a non-profit conservation organisation, committed to urgent action that works towards the protection of India's wildlife. Its mission is to conserve nature, especially endangered species and threatened habitats, in partnership with communities and governments. Right now, SWWI naturalists are working on the ground, India’s land and ocean, to save some of Earth's most spectacular and imperiled wildlife and SWWI is making groundbreaking discoveries and crucial progress against great odds. The international illegal trade in wildlife products is big business & increasingly organised. In protecting endangered species from the poaching that feeds the trade, we need all the resources at our disposal.Information, Education and Communication
