இந்திய நாட்டில் பல சுற்றுச்சூழல் ஆர்வலர்கள், தன்னார்வல அமைப்புகள், அரசு சாரா அமைப்புகள் சுற்றுச்சூழலை பேணி பாதுகாக்க பல்வேறு நல்ல விடயங்களை செய்து வருகிறது.
அப்படி இருக்கக்கூடிய அமைப்புகள் அனைத்தும் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து, தங்களுடைய ஜாதி, மத அடையாளங்களை எல்லாம் விட்டுவிட்டு, சுற்றுச்சூழலை பேணி பாதுகாப்பதே மிக முக்கியமான விடயம் என்று எந்தெந்த அமைப்பெல்லாம், தனக்கு பிடித்த அரசாக இருக்கலாம், பிடித்த கட்சியாக இருக்கலாம், பிடித்த மதமாக இருக்கலாம், அதையெல்லாம் தாண்டி, சுற்றுச்சூழல் தான் உண்மையான கடவுள் என்று தைரியமாக எந்தெந்த அமைப்புகள் சொல்கிறார்களோ, அவர்களே உண்மையான சுற்றுச்சூழலை பாதுகாக்கக் கூடியவர்கள்.
அதை விட்டுவிட்டு, நகர்ப்புறத்திலே ஒரு மரத்தை வெட்டினால் அங்கே சென்று போராட்டம் நடத்துவது, காவல்துறையில அந்த மரத்தை வெட்ட வேண்டாம் என்று கூப்பாடு போடுவது, ஆற்றிலே இறங்கி நின்று கொண்டு ஆற்றுக்குள்ளே பூவைத் தூவுவது, மழை பெய்து ஆற்றிலே நீர் வரும்போது அங்கே சென்று ஆற்றுக்கு பூஜை செய்வது போன்ற போலித்தனமான சுற்றுச்சூழல் ஆர்வலர்கள் மத்தியிலே, இந்த கேடுகெட்ட திட்டத்தை, குறிப்பாக காலநிலை மாற்றத்தின் கோர முகம் நம்மளை அடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கக்கூடிய இந்த சூழல்ல, இப்படி ஒரு கேடுகெட்ட திட்டத்தை ஒரு தனி நிர்வாகம் இன்னும் அதிக பணத்தை ஈட்ட வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக, இப்படி ஒரு நாசகார திட்டத்தை ஒன்றிய அரசாங்கம், திரு நரேந்திர மோடி அவர்களுடைய அரசு செய்ய முனைப்பு காட்டி வருகிறது.
கட்சி, மதம், இனம் எல்லாத்துக்கும் அப்பாற்பட்டு இதற்காக வெஸ்ட் பெங்கால், மேற்கு வங்காளத்திலே கல்கத்தா உயர் நீதிமன்றத்துல முன்னாள் வனத்துறை அதிகாரி மற்றும் அவர்களுடைய குழுவினர் பெரிய போராட்டத்தை நடத்தி வருகிறார்கள்.
அவர்களுக்கு வெற்றி கிடைக்க வேண்டும் என்று நாம் ஒவ்வொருவரும் வாழ்த்துக்களை தெரிவித்துக் கொள்வதோடு, நம்மால் முடிந்ததைச் செய்து, இந்த நாசகார, சுற்றுச்சூழலை அழிக்கக்கூடிய திட்டத்தை நிறுத்த வேண்டும்.
Many environmental activists, voluntary organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in India have been doing various good things to nurture and protect the environment.
All such organizations should come together, leaving behind their caste and religious identities, and realize that nurturing and protecting the environment is the most important matter. Whichever organizations boldly declare—transcending their preferred governments, favorite political parties, or preferred religions, that the environment is the true God, they are the ones who can truly protect the environment.
Instead, we see hypocritical environmental activists who merely protest when a single tree is cut down in an urban area, create a ruckus with the police demanding not to cut that tree, stand in the river to scatter flowers into it, or go and perform rituals (pooja) to the river when it swells with rainwater. Amidst such pretenses, the Union Government, the government of Mr. Narendra Modi, is showing keen interest in implementing a disastrous project. In this current situation, where the horrific face of climate change is already battering us, they are pushing forward with such a wicked, destructive project just so a private administration can make more money.
Rising above party, religion, and race, a former forest department official and their team are putting up a major fight regarding this matter in the Calcutta High Court in West Bengal.
While each of us extends our best wishes to them so that they achieve victory, we must also do whatever we can to stop this destructive, environment-ruining project.
