1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville - The Icon of America’s Tailfin Era
The 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville is widely regarded as one of the most iconic American luxury cars ever built. Famous for its dramatic tailfins, jet-inspired styling, and extensive chrome detailing, it perfectly captured the futuristic optimism of late-1950s automotive design. Under the hood, it featured a powerful 390 cubic-inch (6.4-liter) V8 engine producing around 325 horsepower, paired with a smooth Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Cadillac produced about 21,924 Coupe de Ville units in 1959, making it both desirable and collectible today. With its 130-inch wheelbase, lavish interior, and unmistakable presence, the ’59 Coupe de Ville remains a timeless symbol of American luxury and engineering excellence. (Cadillac LaSalle Museum)
