Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan | Awareness Generation Programme

As part of the 6th Year Celebration of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) Drug Prevention, Assam & Meghalaya, under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Guwahati Zonal Unit, organised an Awareness Generation Programme on Prevention of Drug Abuse among the college students on 16th September, 2026 at NEF Law College, Guwahati.

The programme focused on sensitising students about the NDPS Act, 1985, the harmful consequences of substance abuse, and the importance of awareness, prevention and collective action in building a drug-free society.

The programme was enriched by the valuable insights of the distinguished resource persons:

🔹 Ms. Anamriya Baruah – Project Coordinator, SLCA – Assam & Meghalaya
🔹 Mr. Pallab Hazarika – Assistant Director, Youth Affairs, Assam AIDS Control Society, Government of Assam
🔹 Mr. Ruskin Talukdar – Superintendent, Narcotics Control Bureau, Guwahati Zonal Unit

As part of the programme, participants took the Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge, reaffirming their commitment to staying away from substance abuse and contributing towards a drug-free society.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants as a token of their active participation and commitment towards the cause.

Together, let us strengthen our collective commitment towards a healthier and Nasha Mukt Bharat. 🇮🇳

One-Day Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse Prevention among the NSS Students’ Unit was organised by the Committee on Socio Economic and Health Development Assam (COSEHDA), SLCA–Drugs Prevention, Assam and Meghalaya, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), on 27th August 2026 at Prof. NKC Auditorium,University of Science and Technology.

The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of NSS students and aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse while strengthening preventive efforts among young people.

The programme featured insightful sessions by our esteemed resource persons —

🔸 Ms. Anamriya Baruah, Coordinator, SLCA-Assam and Meghalaya
🔸 Mr. Ruskin Talukdar, Superintendent, Narcotics Control Bureau
🔸 Dr. Sondeep Hanse, Chief Functionary, SLCA-Assam and Meghalaya

The resource persons highlighted various aspects of drug abuse prevention, including its social, legal and health implications, while motivating students to become responsible and active contributors towards building a drug-free society.

A Mass Pledge against Drug Abuse was also administered, with students collectively reaffirming their commitment towards a drug-free India. The programme concluded with the distribution of Certificates of Participation and refreshments to the participants.

Together, let us continue to spread awareness, inspire positive choices and work collectively towards a healthier, safer and drug-free society. 💚

Empowering Communities Through Master Volunteer Training ✨

A District Level Master Volunteer Training Programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was successfully conducted at Jengraimukh auditorium in Majuli on 29th July.

Organised by the Department of Women & Child Development, Majuli, in collaboration with the District Administration, Majuli, the programme aimed at strengthening grassroots leadership and building a united front against substance abuse.

Together, we continue to inspire, empower, and create agents of change dedicated to a drug-free future. ✊
