🐾🐾The dog enrichment area at Kalimpong Animal Shelter is now ready, and our furry residents are already enjoying this new space. It is spacious enough for them to run, exercise, and support their mental well-being. 🐾💚

This would not have been possible without the support of Ms. Karen and Komal. Thank you very much for helping us create this enrichment area for our furry babies.

A rescued dog has a safe space now at Kalimpong Animal Shelter after being saved from cruelty.

Meet Phangrey, who is now living his life once again!

Five months ago, Phangrey was found in a terrible state; his limb had been severely cut by a khukur (a local knife). Upon receiving this distress call, our team was on the frontline to lift him up and save his life.
He needed an amputation, and after a long period of healing, he slowly began to move again, along with his therapy. He was not ready to go back, so we kept him here.

Phangrey is now a lifelong member of the shelter.
When you visit Kalimpong Animal Shelter, you’ll get the chance to meet dogs like Phangrey.

Every visit will be pawsome,come meet and greet our dogs, who are always ready for a little extra attention. 🐾 🐕

They are the ones that have been abandoned, surrendered, and rescued, and now have made Kalimpong Animal Shelter their permanent home.

They are always up front,friendly, and happy to welcome and greet visitors. If you have goodies for them it's always a bonus. 😊

🐾💕🐕 It brings us happiness to see young people taking such care of their dogs, making sure they receive timely treatment when unwell.This says it all about being 'Responsible Pet Parents'.

For the past four days, we have been seeing them come in every day for their dog’s recovery, always staying by his side. Their presence and care are clearly giving the dog comfort and strength.

During times of sickness, we have often seen animals left behind without treatment. But it is encouraging to see more people stepping forward to care for them. It is a good beginning towards a kinder world.

May we all learn to be responsible for our pets and stand by them always, in sickness and in health.

🐾🐾These little bundles of joy are new and waiting for loving homes. Each one has their own personality,playful, curious, and full of love to give. Now they are looking for a place they can call home. A warm corner, three square meals, and someone to look up to-that’s all they ask for.🐾🐾🐕

They are females, but adopters need not worry about multiple litters, as we provide sterilisation at the right age. This ensures all dogs live a healthy, stress-free life while enjoying a happy and loving future with their families. 💚

Please Do NOT Spray or Put Colours on Animals
Holi is a festival of joy, but for street animals it can become a time of fear and suffering.

🔴 Chemical colours can burn and irritate their skin
Animals have sensitive skin. Synthetic colours can cause rashes, itching, infections, and hair loss.
🔴 Colours harm their eyes and nose
Powders and sprays can enter their eyes, leading to redness, pain, and even temporary blindness. Strong smells irritate their nose and breathing.
🔴 Toxic if ingested
Dogs and cats lick their fur to clean themselves. When they ingest chemical colours, it can lead to vomiting, stomach pain, and poisoning.
🔴 Loud noises cause fear and stress
Balloons, shouting, and sudden noises can frighten animals. Many hide for hours without food or water due to stress.
🔴 It is not fun for them
Animals do not understand festivals. What feels playful to us can feel threatening to them.

🌿 Celebrate with Kindness
✔ Keep colours away from animals
✔ Do not chase or spray them
✔ Provide water if you see an affected animal
✔ Encourage children to be gentle

😊Get ready for an exciting opportunity to make a difference for our furry friends! Paw-Rathon is a special marathon dedicated to animals who need our care, support, and love,helping improve their welfare, meet their needs, understand their environment, and give them the chance to live with dignity.

Darjeeling Goodwill Animal Shelter, Wooffers, and Unnati Foundation, in collaboration with Vikrun Foundation, have come together to launch this event. Pawrathon welcomes everyone, from enthusiastic youths to senior citizens, to come together and make a difference for animals. You don’t need to be an experienced runner; whether you can run, jog, or walk, your participation will have a meaningful impact.

📅 Date: 22nd March 2026
📍 Location: Chowrasta, Darjeeling

Event Highlights:
• 10 km Marathon – for enthusiastic runners
• 4 km Walkathon – for those who prefer to walk /jog
• Pet-friendly! Bring your beloved pets along for the fun
