In peaceful protest against the tragic Baruipur incident of 4 July, a silent rally was held today in Kalimpong under the leadership of the Kalimpong NGO Network.

The rally brought together members of civil society, NGOs, and concerned citizens who stood united in silence to express their solidarity with the victim and the families.

Through this collective act of silence, we stand in solidarity with the victim and families, and reaffirm our shared commitment to justice, peace, and the protection of human dignity.

May we continue to uphold the values of peace, compassion, and humanity, and work together to build a safer and more just society for all.

The Bariupur incident has deeply shaken us all, a tragedy so unfathomable that it defies belief how such a gruesome act could be committed. As the people of Kalimpong, we must stand together, united in our resolve to protect every girl child we hold dear. Let us gather tomorrow evening (08/07/2026) at 6:30 at Dambar Chowk to pray for the departed soul and to stand firm against such heinous crimes, ensuring we work to prevent them in our communities.
