Transmissible venereal tumors (TVT) are tumors that arise from the dysregulated growth of cells called histiocytes. TVTs are malignant (cancerous) tumors. Different from other cancers, TVTs can spread between dogs. It is sexually transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact with the tumor that results in cancer cells being transplanted from dog to dog. Currently we have two strays suffering from TVT. They need to undergo chemotherapy treatment but they're very wary of people so catching them is our biggest challenge.

23rd May, 2023: Animal Birth Control and Vaccination Camp held at Lava organized by Kalimpong Goodwill Animal Shelter and Lava Jankalyan Samaj. So grateful to Senior Vet. Dr. Deo Prakash Pandey and his team, and all the members of Lava Jankalyan Samaj. Thankyou to the localites of Lava who gave a kind contribution for the cause.

*Very often we see people tend to kill the strays or abandon their newly born puppies in the jungles to control their population. Please don't do so, since we can humanely curb stray population through ABC camps. It is our responsibility to look after our community animals. The least we can do is feed them, shelter them and take care of their basic medical needs. Even if you cannot do them any good, please do not harm them. This place belongs to them as much as it belongs to us.

So grateful to all the volunteers for taking your valuable time and helping us in making this camp a success.

Animal Birth Control and Vaccination Camp at Lava on 23rd of May, Tuesday.

●Free Vaccination, spay/neuter for all the strays.
●For owner's pet Rs. 1000.
Spaying or neutering increases your pet's chances for a longer, healthier life.
●Spaying a female dog or cat eliminates her heat cycle, which can last twenty-one days, twice a year, in dogs, and anywhere from three to fifteen days, three or more times a year, in cats.
●Unaltered animals often exhibit more behavior and temperament problems than those that have been spayed or neutered.
●Spaying female dogs and cats eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer.
●Neutering male dogs and cats reduces the incidence of prostate cancer.
●Spayed and neutered animals are less likely to fight and bite as they no longer roam around to look for a mate. They stay at home and have less chances of being involved in traumatic accidents, and have much lower chances of contracting contagious diseases.
