Northeast Indian Goal-NEIG is highly committed to promoting football at the grassroots level, and increasing the sport’s popularity amongst the youth. We have already launched Three “Rural Football Centers” in rural areas of Meghalaya to identify and promote talent from within the villages. The experiment is bearing fruit and a great number of children turn up for regular training sessions. It is our goal that many more such centers are established to promote football. If you know of a village where we should promote football amongst the youth, do let us know.

Northeast Indian Goal(NEIG) has been promoting football in the rural of Jaintia Hill's Meghalaya through its Rural football centres spread across the district. NEIG believes that grassroots football gives children an opportunity to learn and develop by using it as a tool for social inclusion and participation. Since April 2018, the NEIG Football programme has been in partnership with Boca Junior Football School and Minerva Punjab FC to promote grassroot football in rural Northeast India. The partnership has engaged 1000 children (100 girls and 900 boys) and seen a increase in girls participation in football in Jaintia Hills District.

The Rural football project has provided a stage for young talents in the rural Jaintia Hills for this two years, helping them to express themselves while teaching them the sporting values such as equality, fair play, teamwork, and respect.
