🌧️ Pray for Assam. Stand with Assam. 🤍

The floods have left thousands of families across Assam struggling to rebuild their lives. Homes have been submerged, livelihoods disrupted, and countless people are facing uncertainty.

Today, we pause to pray for every family, every child, every volunteer, and every frontline responder working tirelessly in this crisis.

At Aarhi Impact Foundation, we believe that compassion is the first step towards change. Even the smallest act of kindness.. a prayer, a helping hand, or spreading awareness can bring hope to someone in need.

Let us stand together with the people of Assam during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected. Stay safe. Stay strong, Assam. ❤️

Some seeds are older than memory.
Meet Mahan Borah - a seed keeper who has spent 15+ years making sure indigenous rice varieties don’t disappear from our plates, our fields, and our culture.
While modern agriculture moved on, he stayed back. Collecting. Preserving. Protecting.

Because he knows what most of us have forgotten - a seed lost is a story lost forever.

This International Seed Day, let’s honour the quiet guardians of our food heritage. 🌾

Applications are now open for Aarhi Impact Foundation’s Summer Internship Programme 2026.

This is a 1-month structured field and research internship for students who want real exposure to development sector work - not office-based busywork or certificate-hunting.

We are running it across three locations in Assam in June–July 2026:

🌾 Jorhat: Field research with farmers in our AIRCCRP carbon credit programme. Indigenous rice documentation. Working alongside agricultural scientists and the Annapurna Seed Library team.

🏫 Mushalpur, Baksa (BTR): School programme facilitation under our BTR Pragati Path initiative. Women’s livelihoods and SHG development with ASRLM block-level partners.

📊 Guwahati: Carbon and climate policy research, communications and content, fundraising and grant research.

What makes this different from most Assam internships:
→ Sessions led by domain experts — agricultural scientists, carbon credit professionals, SHG leaders, education specialists. Not generic mentors.
→ You produce a tangible group deliverable that AIF actually uses in its programme work. Portfolio-grade output, not busywork.
→ You learn the real mechanics of running a non-profit in Northeast India — the funding, the partnerships, the daily decisions. Most internships hide this; we show it.

Programme details:
• Duration: 1 month (June–July 2026)
• Fee: ₹2,999 (fee waivers available for students demonstrating financial need)
• Eligibility: UG/PG students or recent graduates within 1 year
• Application deadline: 15 May 2026

Note: This is a paid programme. Students pay AIF a programme fee. We do not pay a stipend. In exchange, you get structured learning, expert mentorship, field access, and a real deliverable.

If you’re a student looking for honest fieldwork this summer or if you know one who is - this is for you.

Last week we went to Mushalpur, Baksa with one question.
What do you make - and what do you actually get paid for it?

40 women. Active SHGs. One circle of chairs and chart paper on the wall.

We worked through a simple calculation together. Material cost, time, a fair margin. For most of them the number came out nearly double what they currently charge.
Nobody in the room was surprised.

That was the part that stayed with us on the drive back.

40 women. Mushalpur, Baksa. All in Self Help Groups.
We asked one question today: what do you want to do?
Most said they were not sure. Then we asked differently - what would you do if it could generate income from next month?

The answer came quickly. More than once. From different corners of the room.

No programme today. No forms. Just us asking and them being more open than a first meeting usually earns.

That kind of honesty is not something you take for granted.

NB: Part of our early conversations around a new women’s livelihood initiative we are developing in Assam.

🌾 DID YOU KNOW? Your grandmother’s rice varieties are climate heroes!

Assam’s indigenous rice varieties evolved over centuries to thrive in our
specific climate. They’re not relics of the past—they’re the future.

Assam Indigenous Rice Conservation & Climate Resilience Programme: Bridging Sustainability and Economic Growth

We are excited to announce the successful conduction of the first “Awareness Camp on Assam Indigenous Rice Conservation & Climate Resilience Programme” – an innovative initiative designed to empower rural farmers while advancing climate action. The event was held at Annapurna Seed Library where farmers gathered to discover a transformative opportunity combining carbon credits, indigenous seed conservation, and precision farming technology. Farmers learned how they can earn additional income while building climate-resilient farms - with zero cost to join and support from Aarhi Impact Foundation, Annapurna Seed Library, and Bhusatyam Technologies. This is just the beginning, our Phase 1 will empower 500+ farmers to transform their livelihoods while protecting indigenous biodiversity and fighting climate change, one sustainable farm at a time.

🌿 India now has its own Carbon Credit market — and it could change everything for farmers in Assam.
One carbon credit = 1 tonne of CO₂ stored or removed.
Companies that pollute too much? They have to buy it.
Farmers who protect their land? They get paid for it.
Bamboo forests 🎋 Tea gardens 🍃 Organic farms 🌱 Agroforestry 🌳
Northeast India has all of this — and most farmers don't even know they're sitting on a carbon goldmine.

In rural Assam, if you're struggling with your mental health - there's
almost no one to turn to. 💙

1 in 7 Indians lives with a mental health condition. But in most villages,
there's no word for depression. No counsellor. No support system.
Just silence - and the shame that comes with it.

And when farmers lose their harvest to floods or droughts, that mental
burden becomes unbearable.

Awareness is the first step. Share this post to help break the silence.🙏
